No, it doesn't have it.

I use Pocket Plus 4, which also allows you close apps with the "X" button, so I don't really have a need for it.

I will try to make an OEM for it , and I can build a ROM with it.

I like to make my OEM's from the Stock Sprint ROM. If you use someone elses, you never know what you are going to get. ( i.e. the keyboard )

It is included in the Sprint Touch from factory. It is basically a Today plugin that has a notification if you have Voicemail. It can be easily disabled in the "Today->Items"

mr.jcarter 02-08-2008 07:59 PM

can you post your oem of the htc wait icon?

I am not at home right now. I'll upload tonight when I get home.

EDGE23 02-09-2008 12:32 AM

derek, im still using 107 2 and its great, ill will def. upgrade to 3. one suggestion though, since you are using htc home why not just go with the v2.0? version, it allows you to choose the number of tabs to display. this is not a request,, i was just thinking about it while i had nothing to do at work.

thanks for all the hard work and sharing your rom with some of us that are not comp. smart.

PlainShane 02-09-2008 01:00 AM

Thank you for your work.

RatonCrispiN 02-09-2008 06:50 PM

I have updated to version 5. Changes are in Bold Italics, but include new CE OS Base ( 5.2.1933 ) HTC Task Manager, and Vista skins. See the first post for more details.

piggy99 02-13-2008 04:39 AM

NIce......love it.

IsLNdbOi 02-13-2008 08:33 AM

Derek, great work! Just loaded this ROM and its almost perfect.

"Touch Keyboard" and "Touch Keypad" are exactly the same thing when I switch b/w them in some apps. (like in "Input" in the Settings screen). Also, it would be great if you left out the extra themes:

Blue Sky Moon
Night Tree
Stormy Field
Turtle

and the custom ringtones.

Edit:
Actually, I don't know if it's just buggy or what, but in some apps. I get the keyboard that looks almost like the qwerty keyboard that has the full number row at the top (but with the Vista skin), some apps. I get the keyboard that has the two letters for each key (Vista skinned) and in some apps. I get the keyboard that looks like the cellphone keypad (the one with three letters for each key, also Vista skinned) - the whole time I had "Touch Keyboard" set as the input method and it looks like it changed b/w these three randomly in different programs.

Not sure what to make of it. Could it be the Vista skin causing this?

For the themes and ring tones, I was just too lazy to make an option.xml file for the OEM. I'll do that in my next build.

Which programs are you seeing the issues with the keyboard/keypad? I tried a few ( Text message, e-mail, PIE ) and they worked okay. The Vista Skins are just swapping out image files, so I don't see where they would cause an issue.

It will change between the full qwerty board and the Touch 20 keyboard for password fields, but other than that, it should stay in the Touch Keyboard.

Did you install any other apps?

Thanks, very nice.
i was working with the Rom for few hours with no problems, until a minute ago :-(

any one with idea ?

Derek job well done on this new custom rom. so far so good as far as stability, speed and performance is concerned. I just have to questions.

1. Do you have a cab file for HTC random Access? I really think its pretty handy for scrolling contacts.

2. Is there a way to remove the ringtones you put into the ROM? Not really feeling them.

He already addressed your question #2, just 2 posts prior to yours:

Ok, I played with the ROM a little more today. When I go to make a text message and I choose the Touch Keyboard, I get the one with two letters per key (the top left key has: qw). When I choose Touch Keypad, I get the one with 9 keys and three letters in each (the top left key has: @.?,). When I use Notes, Excel Mobile, IE (any editable field), OneNote Mobile (when I'm in a new note or editing a note) it does the same thing.

When I go into Word Mobile, the Today Screen weather app. to choose a city, the Calendar to make a new appointment, Contacts to add a new contact, the keyboard briefly pops up and I see the full qwerty keyboard (the one with the number row at the very top of the keyboard, vista-skinned), but then it immediately switches to the Touch Keyboard (the one with two letters per key) by itself. When I switch to Touch Keypad I still get the one with three letters per key and when I switch back to Touch Keyboard I get the one with two letters per key again. I don't know how to get the one with the full keyboard (the vista skinned one with the full number row at the very top of the keyboard).

When I go into PowerPoint Mobile and OneNote Mobile w/o creating a new note (just in the main OneNote Mobile screen) I get that full vista skinned- qwerty keyboard with the full number row at the top whether I choose Touch Keyboard or Touch Keypad.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that is the expected behavior. The only time you will see the full qwerty board is when entering a password field ( i.e. when setting up an e-mail account ).

There is a registry hack that will put the keyboard into full qwerty mode all the time.

IsLNdbOi 02-13-2008 09:00 PM

Didn't know that the fully qwerty only shows up on password fields. Just went to the gmail and yahoo mail pages and the keyboard did switch to the full qwerty when I put the cursor on the password field. On the gmail page though, when I put the cursor on the username field, it would pop up and hide again leaving a "hole" showing the today screen in the space the keyboard would be in.

Still, what causes the keyboard to act crazy in all those other programs I tried them in?

Welcome to my world lol

I've been trying to figure that out. I feel that issue alone is making the touch keyboard not work as intended. I have tried three different OEM packages and I have yet to find out that fixes it.

IsLNdbOi 02-13-2008 10:57 PM

Hehe, glad to hear I'm not the only one experiencing this mrgeoff. So Derek, when can we expect to see an update that does not have the custom ringtones and extra themes?

Also, did you make the clock on the Today Screen even bigger? Seems like it's a little bigger than it normally is! :p

I can't wait until there's a GUI version of kitchen so that I can start customizing my own ROMS. I know I could do it with the command line version that's out now, but I just can't find all the "parts" needed to put together a complete ROM. I have the tools. All I want is the 6.1 ROM with the latest CE version, all the HTC stuff and some other little things.

I just put in a fix for the ##DATA# settings, but I am working on getting the HTC Keyboard XT9 to let you add words to the dictionary. I have tried several things, and I know what is happening, just not why. I have a few more things to try before it is beyond my Windows Mobile ability. I would like to exhaust options on that task before releasing my next build.

I am a programmer by profession, but have only been playing with windows mobile for a couple weeks now and don't really know any good debugging tools.

IsLNdbOi 02-13-2008 11:27 PM

Another thing I've found is that I cannot turn the phone part on or off anymore by holding the red button.

The EPST trick worked like a champ! I changed the files before I cooked my ROM and ##DATA# worked.

I haven't had an issue of saving words via XT9, but the keyboard wigs out when I use PIE. I wish I could get that part fixed, maybe I would release my ROM lol. I feel like I've hit a brick wall with it though. I have looked through all the files I could think of, but nothing works.

mindfrost82 02-14-2008 12:01 AM

Have you considered using a 32Mb Page Pool? I haven't tried your ROM, but maybe if get the custom dictionary thing fixed I will give it a try. I've been using v3 of OMJ's ROM for the last couple of days and the 32Mb Page Pool made a huge improvement for speed.

Also, did you apply any of the reg hacks to speed it up?

IsLNdbOi 02-14-2008 12:03 AM

Can't anyone change the page pool using that page pool changing utility on the nbh file? I've been using that before flashing all these custom ROMs.
