wont sync to active sync?

OK I don't sync it all the time just when I want to update everything, Well I went to update my contact list and it wont sync. I can right click on the active sync icon and see it when I look at the sync results, so I know its connected. When I do plug it in autoplay comes up and just ask about my photos.

Did I change something without knowing it? My phone is screwing up again and might need to get another one but I dont want to lose all my contacts and everything else sense my last update. Thanks

sounds like u have it in "disk drive" mode. also try toggling "advanced functionality" in start>settings>connections>USB to PC
