ne one ever come up with a hardware keyboard fix
 
Ive been gone for a while from this site for like 6 months now. i constantly used to log on to this site when i first got my touch pro usually to see if someone came up with a working fix for the shitty hardware keyboard on this phone Ive almost given up im up to my 3rd replacment from sprint and they all are doing the same thing first the keyboard works then it gets laggy then it completly stops working. my question has anyone found a real solution yet?

did you check the tp forum? there are a couple of fixes in there.

I fixed my keyboard on TP- thanks to this forum...there is a post here that illustrates step by step on how to swap the keyboard.

You can also find the quick fix.

So, there are more than 3 fixes posted here if your search....

Unfortunatly, like you said, it is a hardware issue.

If you can get them replaced (ie they are under warranty) that is the best way, otherwise new keyboards are fairly cheap on ebay, when I replaced mine I put a couple of thin strips of tape over the flex cable where it connects to the keyboard. That seems to be the weakness (in a non engineers point of view) As the keyboard goes in and out the the cable shifts a little bit each time and the connection into the keyboard gets jarred. That would also explain why the problem is intermittent on a lot of TPs. Sometimes it shifts out of place, sometimes back in.

Anyway, the tape worked for me. I havn't had a problem since. Either that - warrenty replacement, or the old take out the battery and squeeze between the space key and the back of the phone.
