Data still enabled on TP after upgrading to Hero
 

I upgraded my phone to the Hero, had a TP before. I would have thought that I could still use my old phone strictly as a PDA (no phone or data capabilities).

So I am messing around with the TP today and discovered it was still showing it getting both a phone signal and a data signal.

I found out that I can't make any calls because it could not validate my account or something... but I am getting a data connection just fine? How is this possible? Is it good or bad or neither?

I'm on Sprint by the way.

My brother's friend had the same thing happen with a Mogul when he upgraded to TP.

As i recall he used the connection once or twice without incident. Think it is something about the old phone still having your account info programmed into it

I have this happen. Sooner or later the data won't connect.

same thing happened to me with my mogul, after i upgraded to the touch pro. it actually lasted a couple of months until i did a rom upgrade (shouldnt have) no charges or anything. cool while it lasted.

You could always do Inet sharing or just use wifi at home on the TP.
