Internet Sharing Broke After Upgrade
 

Hi, I have just moved for the HTC Touch to the Touch Pro and have run into a problem I can't seem to find any specific posts for. I used to use Internet Sharing all the time with my Touch after following the steps for using PHM Registry Editor and navigating to HKLM\Comm\Internet Sharing and deleting the dll file and then going to settings and changing the ForceCellConnection value data from "Phone as Modem" to "Sprint PCS". And now on the Touch Pro I have done pretty much the same thing only instead of "Sprint PCS", I use "Sprint" because that is the name of my connection on this phone. And once again this worked great while I was on the 1.03.651.3 ROM. But when I flash the updated ROM from HTC for the Touch Pro and follow the same steps, the edit from "Phone as Modem" to "Sprint" doesn't stick. Every time I soft reset and go back in it reverts back to default and my Internet Sharing just says "Waiting for Network" when I click connect. I can't be the only one seeing this with the ROM update, what is the answer for this please, I would like to use the new ROM but can't as of now because I need the Internet Sharing to work.

So nobody else is having this problem?

Are you using ICS on the new ROM with no issues, and if so exactly what did you do?

This is a known problem re: the upgrade. Sprint had HTC set the new phone rom so that the hack would not stick. There was a fix on XDA but I can not remember what it was called. I prevented the system from auto reverting back to the defaults. Good luck on the search.

Here is the fix that I was talking about to correct the problem re: your phone going back to the default reg settings, and preventing the tethering fix.
