Is there any reason why a search in the youtube application reveals different results that going to www.youtube.com? If I try finding videos using the application, I get a completely different result than if I went on my computer and looked.

YouTube Mobile pulls up mobile compliant videos first. However, if you search for a specific video, you will get the specific result. For instance, search for "Why We Believe in Gods - Andy Thomson - American Atheists 09", on your computer and mobile. You should get the same result as the first value.
