only way i know is if you use outlook for your Gmail
yahoo charges
but all you need to do is export your contact list to outlook

Funambol will pull all your contacts from Gmail and sync them with your phone. It will also push your gmail to your phone.

I don't need any extra program to get my Gmail or Yahoo (but I do have the plus service with yahoo)

Just use imap instead of pop3!

If you have Manila 2.1 (which requires the new email wizard) in your rom then simply set up a new email account in Manila...Works great!

It's actually pretty easy to sync with Google. See here.
I recommend using IMAP for email instead of Active Sync, though. It seems to be a faster connection for me at least. However, if you use IMAP for email, be sure to use imap.google.com for incoming and smtp.google.com:465 for outgoing mail servers and specify that outgoing mail requires authentication.
