Grrrr. I've had to soft reset my phone 6 times in the past two hours.

Very annoying. I've reflashed to no avail. I'm going to switch ROMs. This is not very user-friendly having to soft reset after sending a simple SMS.

Oh great, this time it didn't lock up indefinitely after sending a text and hitting OK to go back to the SMS list.. only for 2 minutes.

Yes, it has to to directly with the amount of texts you have.

What I do/suggest is do a backup (I am using SPB) and then export the texts to notepad and save on my comp. then go and delete the texts from my phone. winner winner chicken dinner!!!

Having to do this every week, or every few days is annoying.

Is the issue related to a predesignated amount of space allocated for SMS? If so I wouldn't mind increasing it.

I have asked/looked for that setting in the registry, but no luck as of let.

What I do is have SPB to automate the backup @ 4am to my SD card and then on my way to work turn off the radio and delete all sms/mms (since it is illegal to text & drive) once at work put the SD card in a reader on my comp and save the text to my HD.
