TP Issues - booting extremely slow, power button not putting the device to sleep...
I have changed roms multiple times and it is still present.
The issue is when the device is reset, powered off normally, or the battery taken out the device while booting hangs at the initial TOUCH Pro screen for a very long time. The other issue is if the device is on, clicking the power button does not send it to sleep, though if you hold down the power button it does bring up the "do you want to turn this device off" dialogue box implying that it knows its working, just not responding. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, --PS |
Re: TP Issues - booting extremely slow, power button not putting the device to sleep.
I just flashed the latest sprint rom directly downloaded from HTC and my power button is working correctly, though the device is still sluggish and I do not know why.
any advice? |

Yeah I have tried a couple roms and its amazingly slow. I have no idea whats up - I have cleared the storage also including the NAND ram and no change.

usually the flash dance fixes issues like this.. weird. If i ever have strange problems i flash to a stock rom, then flash back to my favorite rom, let it load, hard reset and then let it do it's thing.

Yeah, danced to no avaial as of yet on the slow boot... sometimes its 3-4m before it boots but it still does it.

So odd!!!!!!! I reset my device again because it locked up while checking e-mail.
The power button no longer sends it to sleep. This is aggravating. --PS |

Re: TP Issues - booting extremely slow, power button not putting the device to sleep.
I was using DomSims Black Dragon rom. I didn't drop the phone or anything, it just started going slow while using it and now its doing as mentioned above.
Since that has happened I have flashed the HTC/Sprint released MR2 OEM rom, it was a slow boot also, so I flashed now to the reflectionist rom100809. Same things are happening and the phone is just acting odd in general. --PS |
Re: TP Issues - booting extremely slow, power button not putting the device to sleep.
i think the power button is probably broken. my old one had problems with the button. it slowly and slowly got worse. sometimes pressing it did nothing and then i press a couple more times and nothing but then all the button presses somehow register later and then my screen would be flashing on and off. I brought it in to the store before it got any worse

If it is physical damage, I'm going to be kind of sad. Replacing it with a referb TP has so many chances of it being a crap one when this one has been so good for so long. I am also torn on the replacing it with a TP2 right now as there is no android development yet on it and I am very interested in dual booting this TP.
Bah - such a crappy position I am in. |
Re: TP Issues - booting extremely slow, power button not putting the device to sleep.
it doesn't hurt to get a refurb since yours is starting to not work. I guess just swap again if the refurb isn't good or just try to get the tp2 and wait for the android stuff. the first tp i had was ok no real problems until a year later, the second one i got part of the screen looked like it is starting to come off on one corner, the current one i have crashes on certain websites and its missing the covers on the screws in the back. I might just take it into the store again.

Re: TP Issues - booting extremely slow, power button not putting the device to sleep.
my power button works fine, my problem is I flashed to TAEL-ROM and phone stuck on touch pro load sceen and kept resetting, since i can flash back to stock, hard reset, phone boots slow, but works, if i flash to energy rom, mighty rom or anything else now that worked before it sticks on black touch pro boot screen, and shows no red lettering at botom, and just keeps resetting. so am i stuck running stock rom now or what?

Re: TP Issues - booting extremely slow, power button not putting the device to sleep.
i have slow response time when i press my power button to. it takes 5 to 10 seconds before it actually puts the phone to sleep mode after i press & release the button. i reflashed stock rom & that helped some but now i can't put any custom roms on anymore bc it keeps rebooting after the 1st splash screen. oh & fyi i have always unlocked my phones vis sd card w/ sspl & i was told to try hard spl from my pc but that never loads to my phone. i get the status bar pop up on my phone like it's about to load but gets stuck on 0% then the ruu loading it times out & acts as if i disconnected my phone. THIS IS FRUSTRATING. I WANT 6.5 BACK.

to gain all the benifits of the new stock rom flash via activesync. if it's not booting, flash via bootloader, then flash again via activsync once running. after customizations run and the phone reboots, hard-reset again. then you should be able to continue with your geekyness. |
Re: TP Issues - booting extremely slow, power button not putting the device to sleep.
i had similar issues. i just got a refurb and honestly.. you can't even tell it's a refurb other than seeing it in ##778#. the new stock rom is a bit nicer too since it has quite a few improvements.. like updating weather automatically and slide to answer (no more "HELLO THIS IS YOUR POCKET SPEAKING!!")
i think my biggest slowdown has to do with the thousands of texts i have. |
Re: TP Issues - booting extremely slow, power button not putting the device to sleep.
Im having a similar problem with my phone. No matter what I flash to, and I hardreset after every flash, the phone still lags pretty bad. Also I noticed the only buttons that work on my dpad is up and down. everything else just hangs, this is present on all roms. I tried flashing back to stock but nothing seems to work.
