**I am getting my touch pro replaced with a touch pro but its my 3rd and maybe this new one want want to break Im just trying to see an alternative to spending 600 dollars if there is a way to get it**

I need a cab to disable my keyboard any one know how to make one?

The only problem with that is they will hard reset your phone and it will work again.

hmm. my last replacement they did not so that,

what if you walk in with a just rested phone completely stock

and if they do that say "well it will start doing it again" take it re-flash the cab and say "see, there it goes again"

My keyboard actually DOES NOT work and its a shame because I was excited to go and trade in my phone for a TP2 and they were out of stock.

Not that I would do this because the moral thread police are lurking, but... what you need is a cab to break the keyboard. So you would flash to stock install the .cab then lock the device. Then hope they don't hard reset the device. Even if they did you could say ya well I just did that and you saw it wasn't working.

Or I got it for the moral police, you could wait and when your devices keyboard finally dies AND YOUR WARRANTY IS UP, YOU WILL BE SCREWED. I BET THE MORAL POLICE WOULD LOVE THAT. Ya just because theirs just happen to go out when the device was still under warranty they should get a new phone and the rest of us should just pray that nothing happens. Nice...

BTW I'm not saying I would do anything.. useless the HTC Hero hits the list..


also if you were going to buy a tv and found out it might only work for maybe a year or less would you still buy it? If it started acting up would you want it replaced?

Open your TP and mess up your flex cable...My old LG rumor keyboard went, and they said it was the flex cable...Maybe worth the try.

The screw holes in teh back have black tape over them so they would know if you tried to open it up..

My local sprint store doesn't really care about that - I've had keyboards "repaired" there. They tear it open.

This refurb has tape over the screw holes just barely, it would be easy to get around it.

I only consider this option myself because I've had NINE completely replaced phones and 4-5 repairs... It hasn't even been a year yet. All just manufacturer defects, I'm EXTREMELY tired of having to deal with this piece of ****. Buying it was a huge mistake.

um download a registry editor and mess with the keyboard values. piece of cake. not like id know how to do this or anything...but i am getting my tp2 tom. or wed. thanks to the wel list =)

I know when I took mine in they flashed to the new stock Sprint Rom and was told that it would fix all the issues I've been having. So that's the new thing they're doing now but I'm still having problems, all well.

So I am kind of upset about this. I got my TP brand new and have kept it in perfect condition. I unlocked it and had been running custom roms since March with no issues. This weekend my hardware keyboard stopped working on me. The first time i was able to fix with just a soft reset. The second time I had to power it off and take out the battery. Third time I did a hard reset to get it back. Finally it just gave out all together. So I figured maybe a new rom would work, nope still didn't fix it. So maybe back to sprint? Nope...........so I ordered a new one through advance exchange........realized I needed to relock the device. Rebooted..........now the keyboard is working again????? Should I take the refurb or attempt to cancel my order? I'm afraid if the ribbon is loose or something it may act up again. Any ideas?

Take the replacement unless you want to have the keyboard keep working and not working. It will go out eventually.

Warranty does not matter in this case. If you look at the OP at howard forums you will see that it is for Warranty or TEP replacements. When I got mine replaced they specifically told me that the phone was out of warranty but THIS DOES NOT MATTER since I have TEP. Bottom line, a failed TP will get replaced by a TP2 eventually, I just don't see the point in lying about it.

Thanks yes I have TEP. I understand that people shouldn't lie. I'm just gonna hit the buttons a little harder maybe that we help it along.
