Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
they told me that if I picked one up from a sprint store then I would have to pay full retail price. They are sending me a touch pro replacement for free. I wonder if it will be a refurb or NIB

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Well I just got my 4th TP last Thursday... it's locked up every night. For the first time I haven't even flashed the phone. I'm still on the stock, unlocked ROM. Anyway I went into the sprint repair store in the mall near me, told the guy it's my 4th and this one is now crapping out and he brought up my account... printed some sort of ticket and told me that my new TP2 is on the way and will be there Tuesday. I didn't even have to do any pushing at all. I don't know if my being a 'sprint premier' member matters at all or not. I'm just happy that they didn't make me jump through any hoops or anything.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I was at a repair center about 2 weeks ago and their system was finally allowing TP2's to be replaced. Prior it was only another TP, BB, Palm Pre, or something else. They called me and said it was going through until it got to the final screen and it popped up Out of Stock. I'll keep you updated when I get mine.....eventually.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Did you get a replacement TP or just tell them you're waiting until a Tp2 comes in stock?
|
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I don't buy the whole 'not in stock' story... the guy at the sprint store on Saturday just ordered one... showed in stock. Now it's going to be a new full kit so unless the problem is that they are waiting for refurb tp2's you should be able to have one ordered.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
they are waiting for referbs most of the time, I got my TP2 2 weeks ago, I called every other day and talked to the advanced replacement department, they told me none where in stock, when they finally where the lady i was talking to said their where only 26 originally put in that day and only 6 where left!
Im PERFECTLY fine with getting a referb (phone/battery only)! and since having the TP2 the only things i can say i miss are some of the buttons on the keyboard (well biggest of all the TAB key... since i use the crap out of it both on desktop/laptop/phone.. well when i had the TP i should say), the camera button (well center DPad) and of course the FLUSH volume up/down... i bump them so often when in landscape (keyboard out) mode... AND THE CRAPPY BT STACK WHICH SUCKS SO MUCH ITS UNHEARD OF!!! Good luck everyone |

Again, as has been the mantra for this entire thread, it depends on the store/rep you talk to. Some stores/reps don't want to hassle w/ the paperwork involved in ordering a NIB TP2 (or just may not be aware that they can), so if refurb stock is out, they just say "sorry, its out of stock." Whereas, other stores/reps that actually give a crap about the customer experience and are willing to go the extra mile, will likely order a NIB if available. Sadly, it appears the latter are few and far between. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I think you may be right... I certainly wasn't 'hot' nor do I really think I was too high priority... just a Sprint Premier member, but that's just cause I've been with sprint for 10 years.
Something that I think may have helped with getting it just fixed right away was that the store was PACKED... one of the biggest malls in the US on a Saturday afternoon 2 weeks before xmas. I was also wearing a suit and tie. I'd like to think that it doesn't matter, but it's always been my experience in life that you get a little better service when you are dressed up. (no I didn't get dressed up just to get a new phone). However, standing in a suit in a crowded store and talking at a regular volume about how I'm on my 4th of their most expensive, most capable phone did cause a few people to notice and I think that the guy figured it would be easier to just change my tp out for a tp2 rather than have to worry if I was going to make a scene. YMMV, but I'd suggest going to the store when it's packed and make it known that you expect them to take care of you and that you are disappointed in the hardware that you spent a pretty penny to get. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
-Royalwe,
I'd hate to go to my local Corp store when it's packed. Each time I've been there, the crowd was light and still I had to wait an hour to have them look at the phone (understandable) but also to pick up the replacement phone... |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I didn't wait at all really... maybe 5 minutes until someone was free... he came out to me to try and sell me a phone probably. I told him what was going on and he walked back to the terminal and brought up my account info, printed a ticket and then proceeded to finish out the order. It could also be that the only way to really show the problem on the most recent TP would take monitoring it overnight... cause it works fine until I plug it in to charge overnight. Sometime during the night it hangs and then won't restart (even after pulling battery etc) unless I do a hard reset with the pwr,vol-, center button. Clearly they couldn't verify that without keeping it overnight and the only thing I could do to prove it was show the 5 copies of 'account services' in my contacts.

At least I got caught up on reading some mags that are piling up the last time I was there. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
so, in summary, the TP2's are in stock but not in stock for an advanced exchange?
|
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
by the way, does an advance exchange extend a contract on sprint by 2 years?

Me too. For those who are trying to get one, DON'T GIVE UP! It is worth every second of fighting with customer service and escalations, driving to every sprint store, having 3 defective TP's. It's all worth it. |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I recieved my BNIB TP2 via US Priority Mail today, wow, is all I can say, I really can't believe my saga is over. In fact I followed this thread since its beginning and was on my second TP back then! It woulda cost Sprint much less if they would have been consistent with their memo and disseminating protocol.
This is a fantastic phone, and indeed, all the TP1 should have been. I hope this gets me by untill Mar 2011 when I am up for renewal. Waiting on my Zagg, which are 50% off today only, new charger (Griffen PowerJolt Dual), and Ecolife case. These days w/o protection are the most fragile, like a newborn! I dropped my TP1 the second day I had it and nicked the chome, oops. One last note, they didnt sent a return envelope... hmmmm... |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
i got my upgrade like this now on the touch pro 2 from my touch pro only thing i hate about tp2 is that when u have it set to ring and vibrate and then put the phone on vibrate then switch back to the full volume it takes out the option of vibrate and ring any way to fix that

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I have been just going to repair centers. So regular sprint stores can replace phones as well?
|
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
i went back to my nearest sprint repair center this morning. i was having modem problems and my brand new 2 week old keyboard already had a bad key.
the rep ran a diagnostic on the tp and said she would have to order another tp. then she said, if i can get you a tp2 would you want that instead? yes. she was able to put the order through. and added today must be my lucky day because the tp2 orders don't always go through. my new phone should be here thursday. merry christmas from sprint!! |

that was my understanding this morning because i told the sprint rep that i might consider a hero in june when i was eligible for my next upgrade. i believe she told me the tp2 was a free upgrade which should give me a new contract. no problems as i was only 6 months on my new contract. |

does anyone know of a location close to Fort Lauderdale, FL that does this? I dont have a car right now cuz mines getting fixed and I doubt any of my friends will drive me around looking for a free phone :laughing6:

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
is everyone just going to repair centers to get their TP1's swapped out or can you go to a regular sprint store to make the swap?
|
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I went to a repair center. My experience with every issue for the TP is that the regular stores will either try to send you to asurion or send you to the repair center unless you're within 30 days of buying the phone.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I would love if someone near the Northern VA area knew of a store that was TP2 friendly. I have had 2 problem TP1's in the last month and both times they offered everything short of a TP2 at the Reston, VA and Chantilly, VA stores.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Hey ya guys I just got my touch pro send to me from sprint as refrub apparantly to replace my diamond, had minor scratches...? back cover worn out a bit anyways it seems to be acting stupid already with random black spots on screen at times, looked at my nearest stores to me on sprint store location's and saw this on a store that i had never seen before.
