Well I spent all day yesterday trying to get my pro replaced with a pro2, 2 different stores and hours on the phone all they will replace with is what in the warehouse. Getting an Intrepid.

I've been reading this thread for a few days now, and I think it is time that I tell my tale of woe. I am now on my 3rd Touch Pro. My original I bought in November of 08 at Best Buy and it worked great until August of this year. It developed a lot of keyboard lag and the GPS started to act very funny(cutting itself off in the middle of giving directions, insisting on making U-turns for no reason, etc). So I brought the phone to a corporate store and the technician agreed the phone was bad. He told me that the Touch Pro was turning out to be a very bad model and I was lucky I had my original for so long. So they ordered me a refurb and it came a few days later. While I was waiting for it, I found this thread and became really concerned about the refurb and so I called Sprint and they stated they would not swap out the phone with another model.
So, I got the refurb and was pleasantly surprised. The battery lasted ~50% longer than my original and it was updated to the new rom from HTC. A few days ago however(so after about 3 weeks) the refurb starting locking up on me, and started to miss texts and phone calls. I have to be able to receive all my calls, and so I called Sprint Customer Service earlier this week to get another Touch Pro. The rep tried to get me to swap to a BB Tour, Curve or a Palm Treo, and I explained that I had a $300 investment in a phone, and all those phones cost at most $150. So they sent me another Touch Pro and for my trouble a travel charger.
I got the package on Thursday of this week and found out they had sent me the charger for a blackberry. Well, technically I could use it, but in case they new refurb broke I didn't want Sprint to be able to blame me for using the wrong equipment. Come to find out, I didn't need to worry about it because the new refurb reset itself in the middle of trying to activate it over echat. It just rebooted while I was trying to enter the information the tech instructed me to. It finally activated and I went to call Customer Service about the charger, so I pressed send to bring up the dialpad and it reset itself again.
So I call and tell them this and they send me to the Escalations department, which informed me they would usually replace it with a Touch Pro2 but didn't have any in stock. They advised me to go to the store and try to get them to replace it with a Touch Pro2 from thier stock. So I go and wait in line just to be told that they didn't have one either and that they would call me when they came back in stock.
Well, today the Fn button has decided to stay on all the time and I cannot send texts anymore and the Sprint reps on the phone say they can do nothing about it. So it appears I am at the mercy of the warehouse and their stock, if they ever replenish it. Just wanted to share this, Thanks.

i hate doing this going in for issues with my phone but i am on my 5th swap.
last year i had the mogul and they gave me the touch pro cuz the screen ****ed up on me right on xmas day. they didn't have any in stock so they gave me the touch pro. Round 1. round 2 in feb to hear out of of the phone was so low i couldn't hear people less i pushed the phone close up to my head or use headphones so they sent me a new one, Round 3 the phone they sent me was broken the batter connection had a short in it, so they gave me a brand new touch pro. round 4 they keyboard stop workng a few months later and they sent me another round 5 in sept my phone started crashing on me at random times then the update came out and that fixed it great. well my phone the other day started blinking on and off and fading in and out of sleep, wouldn't hold a charge, got a water mark on it which wasn't cuz of me, so they are giving me the touch pro 2 this week. I' did ask if i can just have the hero cuz i liked it after playing around with it and didn't seem to have issues but they said no i have to get the touch pro 2 and i said well i quess. I'll be getting the htc hereo regardless in a few months after its been out awhlie maybe that might be better. I do love the htc touch pro but wow so many issues with the damn phone its crazy. But i hope the tp2 dont give me any issues.

Guess I should consider myself fortunate. Got my TP in Summer of '08 and had no issues until recently, when it stopped syncing/charging. My replacement is coming next week, and after reading this thread, I'm getting a little nervous about the potential for a trouble-prone device.

Do you guys think the cab that pulls 900mA from a USB connection would have caused this?

My bad, thought the Mogul had like....a 3inch screen or something! The Mogul screen definitely does look bigger though.........and I was still mad!

My TP2 is having no issues at all. Way better quality than the TP. And I was not a TP hater. So those that have them coming you will be impressed I think. Again, I have 2 TP2's now and both have no issues. :)

Hey Man dont try to work around the pos make them work for you if it messes up call em and call em til they dont have anyother choice, sorry im so aggresive but in all actuality ive been with sprint for a while and paid alot of money for new phones/ asurion phones/ and TEP...these phone are prices way to high they (Carriers) make us crazy!!

well here is the real deal>

I saw a few people stating that sprint was replacing tp1 with tp2. I did my research and read all the policy's b4 calling sprint. here is was is going on,if you have insurance and its an issue other then hardware/software , your going to be getting a tp1 replaced by the insurance company "not sprint", if you "don't have" insurance and your HTC tp1 is still covered under the one year warranty and you call in or do the online replacement form, your going to still get a TP1. here is the loop hole, you have to walk into a sprint store and see a tech about the handset issue. if its an on going hardware issue they will replace the tp1 with the tp2.the catch! you have to have had your TP1 "REPLACED THREE TIMES" b4 getting a different of like model. and so I am getting a TP2 next week. hope to at lease !!!!!

The three phones is not true, plenty of people on here have had a TP1 replaced with a TP2 without that many.

The three phones remark from above is not entirely true. I was one of the people who was on their first tp and received a TP2 NIB. It has been said before , but it really just depends on your particular situation and the store you visit. There seems to be no set in stone policy that Sprint is following just guidelines for them to use their best judgment.

yeah that is true my girl only had her first touch pro for two weeks when it started messing up and they replace hers with a BNIB touch pro2 the same day they replace mine for a touch pro2 and i was on my 6th touch pro lol

When I did it they told me exactly what I was getting and gave me the order sheet. If they did not mention it, I would not expect it.

they usually tell you what you're getting. if you don't hear it, it won't happen.

I tried all day today, my phone quick working overnight and 2 techs at 2 seperate stores told me to have Sprint send me a TP2 in place of my TP. Sprint is sending me another TP. I even spoke to retentions and the dude told me I should've taken the Treo Pro that was offered because it was such a great phone. I asked if he was going to credit the $200 price difference to my account and he said no because they work off retail price and contract price. Unfortunately I figure what I paid instead of retail. I guess I don't think right.

The last tech I spoke with was cool and gave me a phone to use until Sprint sent me a replacement that I'll eventually send back. I will be a return customer for him even though he is 1hr and 15min away.

@ jason25, keep trying different reps. the right one will come along, trust me. i found it easier having tech support note my account, then going to the sprint store. a tp2 was ordered from the store, mainly because of the notes on my account. but as you can see, there are several ways of doing this lol!

You think that's bad? There's only 4 corporate sprint stores in my state (3 ASCs and 1 replacements by mail) and no third party repair center. I haven't had any luck here since this came up.

Let me add my two cents on how it went for me. I had a Touch Pro that went bad in September. I got an exchange. That new one started acting up. I called the insurance, they said call Sprint. Sprint said take it to service. I dropped it off, they did a wipe, but the original problem of rebooting was still happening. On top of that, the pad under the screen was lifting up. The repair dude looked at me, lifted a Touch Pro 2 and said, "You know what, I am just going to send you one of these."

I get it Tuesday.

Well, my stable TP stopped charging yest and then died. My KB was fine.

They Sprint store said they are replacing it but since there was no mention of a TP2- I figure I'll get a TP1 again. It's cool since right now I have to use an old Samsung flip phone!

Should I just keep calling until I get that right person or just wait until I get my replacement? The confirmation e-mail says they are sending a TP but the guy in retentions said I might be getting a TP2.

Anyone in the Baltimore area having luck? I'm in Denver, but traveling to Baltimore. Would be a productive trip if I knew there was a store that could help me out. My keyboard is once again out.

i know what you mean. i wouldn't bug them everyday, some have had luck that way though. i only tried twice, maybe waited a couple weeks before the 2nd time and had success.

Here's my story:

I'm on my 2nd TP. Keyboard stopped working, went to the Sprint repair center (Cranston, RI) - she said "we can fix that", and when she took the TP, I said: "Well, what about the other problems?" ....rep said, "such as?". I said, "it constantly overheats"...and before I could list anything else she offered a list of replacements, including the TP2.

I get it today. Note - I had called this same store before going in and they said "no we can't replace it with a TP2" ...but as mentioned above they were pretty eager to replace it w/ TP2 when I showed up.

The rep did mention to me "this phone has been nothing but problems, and we'd rather just replace it w/ the TP2 to make it easier."

So if you're in the RI/MA area, you might have luck at this store.

I like how every new HTC Sprint comes out with is automatically the little problem child as soon as the new one's out, but when they replaced their previous Mogul/Touch/Vouge with the TP or Diamond, it was God's gift to mankind. Just cracks me up, and before I get 10,000 messages about what is truly wrong with your TP, we went though this with the Mogul just 18 months ago.

If the guy told you that he was sending a TP2, and you recieve a TP, call right away and let them know that you were told you were recieving a TP2 and already bought many accessories for it.

Need help.. My phone's screen all of a sudden went out. I had the phone flashed with a custom rom so I can't flash back because I can't see. I was going to try to reflash back with an microsd card but now my phone doesn't even turn on because i don't feel the vibration when you press the power button. Can I still go into a sprint store or is this definitely a case of asurion and paying $100????

Anyone with some Sprint inside information know how the Touch Pro 2 can be ordered? I have been waiting for it to reappear on the warehouse list for the last week and a half and it has not shown up to order. I have my service center checking every couple of days, but I do not want to bug them to much. Does anyone know how some people are getting orders processed and delivered? Both Priority 4 and 5 have shown out of stock in the warehouse in my case. If there is another way it can be ordered I would like to suggest it to my store. Thanks in advance.

I agree. If I only tell 60% of the story is that considered lying. I don't want to lie but I don't like driving over an hour to get a phone looked at either.

Picked up my TP2 today. Had to go into a corp store to get my TP fixed or replaced and the repair rep mentioned all the issues with the phone. I simply asked if there were other phones available due to how problematic this phone is. He replied that there is the TP2 but they are not able to order it at the store level, said I would have better luck calling *2.

So I called and the *2 rep told me I should get a TP2 due to all my issues and went as far as finding stores in my area that had it in stock. I hung up, went back to the rep who still insisted that stores couldn't order TP2's as replacement. I calmly told him what *2 had told me and that I don't want to drive across the city for a phone replacement. After some deliberation with a manager he decided to "see if the computer would him to order". What do you know, the computer "somehow" (as if by magic) allowed him to order me a BNIB TP2.... he didn't seem too surprised by this actually.

Lesson learned: Stores don't want to replace the TP with the TP2 since their store must take the hit. However, for loyal customers, Sprint is willing to make the swap due to the issues surrounding the TP1's (didn't appear to me that *2 could do it as the rep on the phone seemed honest and sincere in helping me find a store with them in stock).

As a note: I was on my third TP1 since buying it on release day last year, and I have with Sprint (in addition to my other 5 lines) for over 10 years now.

Also does anybody know when I go into a store for repair and they create an e-ticket, does that get noted on my account? I really don't want to go into the store any more because the people that work there have no clue whats going on. They had me wait 30 minutes to tell me something I already knew, the keyboard has to be replaced, and to come back Wednesday. WTH!? Then I look at the top of the eticket receipt and it says Customer Opts To: WAITFORREPAIR! They never asked me what I wanted to do.. bastards. Anybody know a repair store in Los Angeles area with competent techs? Huntington Park has none.

done and done, i will let them "fix/replace" my keyboard or ask for another TP.
