Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I got my TP2 as a replacement for my 4th TP1. I dont really hang over here at TP1 anymore.. but I wanted to give a suggestion.
My suggestion is call Customer Service when it isnt busy, be really nice and tell them this: " Hello. Im standing outside a sprint service center and before i go in and speak to a rep I want to make sure that it is clearly documented that i have had multiple issues with my phone and need to be given an opportunity to upgrade to a like phone that is currently available. " Then when you go inside the store, they will see the notes and have to offer you something per customer service. Tell them you need a winmo device for work and it has to be touch screen with a keyboard. If they offer you a TP... that matches your criteria and your stuck with it. But they might offer you a Tour, Hero, Pre or my fave... The TP2. Politely say thank you and take home ur TP2. If they say that you need to wait a few days to get it.. thats fine. Also, deal with a manager, be friendly. Dont dress like a douche, but not like a teenager either. Good luck! |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Ok so if I understand this correctly, this is what I need to do to get a BB tour?
*I have TEP and it has been less than a year since I purchased the touch pro - flash back to stock ROM - relock phone - make sure phone is still buggy - go to repair store - tell them about the problems - (mention the Warrenty exchange list?) - ask for a BB tour replacement Anything I am missing here? Thanks for the replies. |
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11) Sprint PPC6850SP)
no your good just do exactly that and the tour is yours! or.. exchange your touch pro for tp2 sell that on ebay and then buy (on ebay) a tour and enjoy the difference prob, 100-200$ - shipping..etc |

I recommend just see what they say first, if they offer to only replace it with another tp then bring up the list but not before. If they still won't do it, call customer support and try them because that is the avenue I had success with. |

Also, I think that's smart: calling a store beforehand to see what the replacement options are (as each store is different). Although it may be a bit fishy (if they're keen to people trying to game the system). |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Well I guess I'll add my story in also.....
I was on my 5th TP, but to be honest I really didn't want to go to the TP2 because I wanted to wait for the HD2 or something that has a bigger processor..... Anyway I called up customer service and got an "E-Ticket" put in about my phone having hardware problems (This time it was the speaker, only had the replacement for 3 weeks and the speaker is going out). After talking to the retention rep and having them put the ticket in and submitting the ticket to a specific sprint store I went to the store and the talked to the manager.... he was very nice and actually all I wanted was a decent TP that had a hw build # of 003 or greater, which meant that I would hopefully not have anymore keyboard problems again..... he told me that instead of me getting an exchange and having to take the risk of having getting another bad phone that I could choose from the following phones: BB - Tour, or Curve Tre 850 HTC Snap After looking at the phones I told him that I just wanted a phone that had the same capabilities as the TP that I had and that as long as I could remote desktop, edit office docs .... ect... that I was fine...... He told me that none of those phones could do everything that I wanted and just told me to pick any phone in the store.... including the .... Pre, Hero, TP2..... well I chose the TP2 and to top things off he also said that it would be an swap and not a upgrade...... So I get to keep my $150 upgrade!!! All I could say to him was THANK YOU!!!! now I can upgrade again at anytime..... ( I think I''ll wait for the HD2.... but in the meantime will enjoy my TP2. |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I called my guy to see if my TP2s were in yet, nope. He said he usually gets his shipments between 11 and 2 so we'll see what happens. I'm so anxious to just get it already!

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Just got a call that my TP2 is at the store. I'm finding it hard to stay in the office.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
So, heres my story advice is appreciated!
I am currently on my 3rd replacement phone. I went to the sprint store today to see what they could do about my faulty keyboard. The rep said "They are offering other phones as a replacement in lou of the touch pro because of the high exchange rate and issues with the phones. The other options are BB tour, BB curve, HTC Snap.... and thats about it." I explained that i needed to run windows witha full keyboard, he said "the snap" I said yeah, but theres no touch screen and its not vga. He replied, then the only option is replacing it with another touch pro. so ive got one on the way, will be in tomorrow. I stood my ground, and got shot down. I just hope that the touch pro that i get actually works, though i would love a touch pro 2. |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Well my Touch Pro story just got a bit more interesting... So as I said before I was one of the people who got my order in friday while they were briefly in stock. Decided to check the tracking of my package via UPS today and noticed it was in transit (great) but getting delivered to my OLD address (an address which I had sprint change numerous times before, but everytime they changed it the system would act as if it would not accept it... NOT GOOD!)
So I call Sprint pissed and let them know about their error and end up getting the run around. After speaking with several reps and supervisors, one happens to mention that they shipped out a TP instead of a TP2. I tell them that is an error and I was supposed to be shipped a TP2. They tell me that it is showing a TP and they can order me a TP2 tomorrow after they intercept the package that was shipped to the wrong address. Yet, I keep telling him that this will be very hard to do seeing how I had to wait 2 weeks for the phone to come in stock to begin with and him trying to order tomorrow will simply produce an OOS. The rep then says that there are still other phones I can choose from but I let him know none of them meet my needs. He said well he cant check and see the status until he calls me back tomorrow and attempts to place the order. I just said whatever and call me tomorrow even though I know it will be OOS. He apologizes a few times for my inconvenience and then we end the call. That entire process took 57 minutes. So I am PISSED now. Not only did they ship it to the wrong address but they lied to me when they told me I would receive a TP2. So tomorrow I am preparing for war with the Sprint rep because this is simply unacceptable. If a priority 5 replacement is not in my future (or atleast a priority 4 refurb like i was promised) the iPhone just may very well be. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I went to an authorized servicer/dealer here in Houston. He told me they are all out of TP2 and my best options were the BB 8330 or the Snap if I had to exchange.
I told him my phone had been dropping calls and having random shutdowns. He gave it to the service guy, a few minutes later the guy comes out and says he did a 'software update' and everything is fine. :( No new phone for me, but I will try again in a month or so. Any advice to get this to work next time? |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
So I was given a tracking # this morning... but when I look it up, it doesn't match the format on the website... would that be caused by it being an advance exchange?

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
My wife picked up our Touch Pro 2s! They came in plain OEM (non-retail) packaging with just the battery, stylus, and charger, but ##778# shows they're not refurbs. I've got a couple more hours at work then I get to go home and fiddle around with it while anticipating the HSPL's release. :)
Good luck for everyone else still waiting and trying. |

It's a pretty nice phone, it seems a lot more solid that my TP ever was--the TP2 doesn't feel cheap at all. I was worried it might be a little too big, but I actually really like the size and weight of the phone. Anyway, now I just need to pickup a screen protector and patiently wait for the HSPL to come out. Best of luck for those of you still trying to switch to a TP2. :-) |

Yeah, you need the MSL for the device to get into those menus to edit anything. Fortunately my tech gave the MSL's to my wife.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I just took my refurb touch pro (replaced 2 weeks ago) back in because it wouldn't charge, bluetooth frequently disconnected, the call/end buttons are sticking above the case and it frequently freezes when just trying to open applications.
Another TP1 is coming my way sometime tomorrow. This'll be my third and for legit reasons. |

I did not know there was a repair center in that area. I actually live up north and the closest repair center WAS between Howard and Parmer. Do you know of another one that isn't on their list? |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
So how does this ausurion thing work? I call them, they might offer me a TP2 for a $100 deductible. Do they charge it to my Sprint account or I gotta pay it from a credit card?
EDIT: I don't have TEP, does that matter? |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Just got my TP2. Checked and it's NOT a refurb. Scha-weet.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Come on level 4 replacements... With less than 5 stores in my state I'm running out of luck. No manager wants to do a level 5 replacement.
