Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!

Sprint is trying to play the run around with me. I went to get my TP1 replaced for the first time about a month and a half ago, and the guy in the store was very prompt, sincere, nice and well informed. He said I had to have my TP1 replaces at east once before I could get a new replacement phone from a designated list. (The one from the beginning of the thread, TP2, BB Tour, HTC Snap, and so on).

However, when I went in today to get them to replace my 2nd malfunctioning TP1 (the keyboard has gone out on both) the guy told me the HTC TP2 was only on the list for "like a day" and they took it off. I didn't want to call him out on this cause I guess I'm technically not supposed to know about the list in the first place.

He offered me 4 choices; HTC Snap, BB Curve, another TP1, and the Palm Pre. He then mentioned HTC Snap would definitely not be a good replacement. I told him yeah I realized it would be a downgrade, and frankly, everything he mentioned except for the TP1 was also a downgrade for me. (Sorry but I'm just not a fan of the Palm Pre.) So I told him to just go ahead and get me another TP1, however I'm going to call sprint later tonight and discuss with someone about this issue.

I find something fishy about what went down because I was home from uni for thanksgiving break and went to the sprint store in my hometown and they said they could order me a TP2, except it wouldn't be in til Monday (Nov 30); and unfortunately I had to be back at uni on sunday, so there was no way I could really do that.

I'm thinking about calmly refusing the TP1 when I go back to the sprint store tomorrow. Not sure yet, I'll have to call CS later tonight.

I sort of had that happen to my original TP too, the crack above the volume controls. I think the problem is that there's some part of the sliding mechanism for the keyboard that flexes right behind that spot. My TP didn't crack, rather a sizeable chunk of the plastic broke off entirely one day when I slid out my keyboard. From then on, I could see this other piece of plastic behind the hole that moved each time the keyboard was slide open or shut. If they give you hell, tell them that's the cause. They tried to pull that with me and I had not dropped the TP at all.

That happened to my very first TP. That's exactly why I also didn't take mine in, but finally got tired of not having a keyboard and just went in. I think I got lucky though because when I got it replaced they didn't even mention the crack. I'd say give it a try and then if they try and give you crap do what Abicio said.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!

Tuesday before thanksgiving i went to sprint because my phone was kinda beat up and it had a few problems (kicking me off the net and freezing all the time). i have insurance. the guy working tried everything to fix it but it didnt work. so he said he"ll order me a replacement. i leave and he calls me and tells me about my choices. i didnt really care about getting a tp2 and he didnt mention it. i told him to just get me a tp1 replacement cuz those other phones suck. so today the store tells me my phone is in. when i get there the guy is like "well i guess they were out of your phone and gave you the tp2, is this ok?" im like thats more then ok.. thats crazy, i never had to get notes posted or talk to anybody, or get rid of my SERO. matter or fact this wasnt even a corp store it was a reseller that fixes phone. i got lucky i hope everybody else can have the same luck :wav:

Wow, it seems everyone is getting lucky this week.

My current refurb is solid.
I'm going to look at ebay and Craigslist for a TP2. I figure I can make some $ back by selling the TP1.

It is cool looking but not what a serious user needs. Besides, it doesnt work with SERO.

Palm is on the way out I'm afraid.
