I understand about the fraud aspect of this however, Sprint should require at least 2 repair attempts on any given phone before giving in and replacing the phone for a TP2. It seems that so many people here are either mad when Sprint repairs the phone and doesn't not give them a TP2 or just assume that the repair will not work. I am on my 2nd TP and will have to get a third because the radio in my phone locks up so I can't make or receive a call. I realize that there are defective phones out there however, people are just of the mind that "I should get a new TP2 for my troubles". For those who have keyboard issues Sprint can replace the keyboard and many people that has worked just fine. I use that because it is the most common issue on this thread. If after 2 repair attempts then the phone should be replaced with a comparable phone which there are currently none available on the list. I think that Sprint put the TP2 on the list so that they can say we have a comparable phone it is just OOS. For those who have legitimate problems with their phones and have tried to work with Sprint you should be treated better than you have but for those who don't event want to try to let Sprint fix their phone and just want a new TP2 that is what I have an issue with.

It sucks for me because I just received a Refurb Touch Pro on Tuesday and the keyboard was already jacked up. There is not a repair center within 300 miles of where I live. There is only a corp. store. They do orders by mail for replacement. This is my 2nd one and I have TEP. I wonder if they'll replace it with a TP2 because I really don't want a TP after the problems and my best friend went through 5 of them. :scratch:

Ok, so, frustrated.
I'm on my fifth pro since August, and have had it in three times in the past two days. Yesterday morning they replaced the keyboard and confirmed that it was way too warm for doing essentially nothing, so they replaced the battery (offered a BB or Snap before they even looked at it, declined as these are both downgrades for me). This is all fine by me until, two hours later, the exact same things are happening (keyboard only working 1/2 the time, phone very hot in pocket with nothing running). Take it to another store, they test it for well over an hour and tell me there's nothing wrong at all (which I can't entirely fault them for, the keyboard DOES work sometimes). Well, today I wake up and it locked up overnight while charging and discharged the entire battery. I get it charging again, and when I take it off the charger to make a call, keyboard is completely dead (doesn't even light up), and it's stuck in landscape mode, in addition to being not just warm, but hot. So, take it in again, and a little over an hour later, the keyboard is fixed and it again works in portrait. Tech did verify that it was out and out hot when it came in, and warmed while being worked on, but says that it's not a replaceable issue (which I'd even been inclined to agree with if it wasn't freezing up and not charging because of it). Home now, and the keyboard has only worked on 4 of the 5 texts I've gone to send. /sigh I don't want another refurb TP (went through three of them in a combined four days), I just want something that works. If my TP would behave and work, I'd even be ok with that, but of course ideally I'd like a TP2. Ugh, ok, now that I've vented... Also, maybe this is a stupid question, but how can you tell if it's third party or corporate (on the website or what?) |

I gave them the info from the memo and as always, they played stupid. So Im gonna call and try and get it replaced just like I got my first replaced. ok well, i was on the phone with sprint for a while, and the woman said that it is on the wel list, but its backordered.. she said that she would put it through to the claims person, and i said i would wait until it wasn't back ordered any longer, and she said that she would check to see if thats possible, because the only other phones they had to offer that did what i need them to do are the snap and the palm pro, but both of those have such small keyboards that i don't think it would even work for me. i'm waiting to hear back from her right now. i'm going to see what else can be done.

I just came from a ASC about half an hour ago! Based on THIS visit there is good news and bad news if thats what you wanna call it!
The bad news (like a whole bunch of people on here have been saying) is that the TP2 is out of stock (OOS)! Obvious! The good news (like a whole bunch of people on here have been saying) is that what the rep (a nice white gentleman) said to me when I went: He came from the back with a hand written list of phones I could swap (the list is the same as you read before here)! I asked about the TP2, and he told me they don't have those in (they can't swap them)! Asked why they couldn't swap the TP2s and he told me they aren't in stock! He also told me the TP2s they were swaping were in a different department from in store and over the phone sales (as stated before here)! He told me the department where they can swap TP2s is all out and he doesn't know when they will be in stock again! I asked him when they do come in will they be available to order as a replacement and he told me "yes!".....than we had a chit chat.....than he told me that they can swap them but they don't have'em......for swap or in store sale! He told me they are only available online for sale because if you do that they come directly from a different warehouse for online purchase! Than I asked if they could put me on a list so when they do become available they can call me and notify me they are in! He told me they can't do that because they dont even have an estimated date on when they will be in for refurb but told me it might be a long time! He then reassured me that you can swap them though....so for now we will just have to wait! Whats the point of this: Everybody with itchy fingers stop scratchin and WAIT! They didn't take TP2's off the list for swaping or change any rules...and if they did somebody would put some solid information online just like they did when they found out about this in the first place! What everyone needs to do is wait patiently and persistantly, call or check online for the TP2s, stop worrying, hold on to your TP1 that might not be messed up for some of a small amount of you and stop bum-rushing sprint for something they really can't do right now! JUST EFFING WAIT! |

well I just went in, but they said the TP2 is out of stock in the warehouse (and I didn't want anything else), so they can't order me one, so I got their number and my eticket number and I'm just going to call every few days and see what happens...
so I guess I'm in the same boat as half the people in this thread. This was a 3rd party store, I tried a corporate store last saturday and they just ordered me a refurb TP (it's still sitting at the store). So 3rd party stores are the way to go i think. I'm pretty sure if I would have gone to this store a week ago I'd already have my TP2!!!!! (Which sucks I didn't think of going to the 3rd party store first!) |

yeah, i really didn't want a touch pro again, so i had the option of either the htc snap, palm pro, or blackberry tour... so i went on ebay and saw that the blackberry is selling for like 200 more than the other two, so i took that. my tour should be here in a few days. i figure at the very least, i can sell the tour and get a hero if i really want to, but i'm gonna give it a try and see what happens.

Wow. Sprint effing sucks. If the T-Mobile "project dark" deal is true, I'm leaving Sprint the day its public.
I went to my ASC, the only Sprint store within 2 hours, and they immediately told me they could ONLY order me a refurbed TP1. I said I wanted another model, as I've already had numerous refurbs. They gave me some work order # and told me to call Sprint. After talking to a tech on the phone, I was shot down again, and told they cannot give me anything but...ANOTHER REFURBED TP1!!!! So the tech just went ahead and ordered it.... ](*,) They must have the worst customer relations ever for a major wireless carrier. |

just so you guys know, if you do decide to call to try to get a touch pro 2, once they file the claim, you kinda are stuck with the decision of either taking a refurbished tp, snap, pro, or that new samsung ugly thing, and you can't do the wel program again so you're stuck with the phone. thats what the girl told me, after she got back to me about the tp2 being out of stock.

I consider myself on of the lucky ones here. I went to the store Monday showed the tech my phone that looks like new from outside and yet has too many issues. not even two weeks ago I had to replace the keyboard but again it start acting. I showed them some burn marks by the battery from the heat, she told me keep it here for 1 hour and come back, so I did and I came back later she came to me with my repair receipt and written down snap, tour and curve, I told her I will not accept none of those because I bought the phone full price because of it sliding keyboard and windows mobile plus touch, so she said u dont want another phone then? I said yes I do but not those options, I asked her what about TP2, she said is not available right now (backordered) if u come back wed we might have it, I asked her if she can write touch pro 2 in my receipt so when I come back they'll know and she did write "Waiting on touch pro 2" I came back wed there was totally diff employees, the tech approached me, I said that I am here for the replacement, she took the receipt and she went to the computer to place an order for me, she gave me my receipt and told me we'll call you Friday or Monday to come get it. Today I didn't even bother calling I just went straight to the store after work, gave them the receipt she went to the back and here she is coming back with brand spanking new TP2, activated and ready to go, she just asked me to give her a good feedback (5) if I get a survey call, I said I certainly will and left. I looked in the box and I saw the date of the delivery and it says 10/15/2009 means the phone was there yest and nobody called me, good thing I drove there today without calling.

well, i really don't know if i'm up to owning another windows mobile phone right now. maybe after 7 comes out, but i'm so sick of 6.1, and 6.5 isn't enough of an upgrade for me because software isn't advancing very quickly... i'd rather skip over to blackberry or android right now until microsoft gets their **** together. the tp2 is a great phone, but its still running windows.
you have to have the touch pro active on your account to exchange it, i don't know how not having it on the account, and then reactivating it would affect your eligabliity. i'm looking to get the hero though most likely, so i'm just gonna sell the tour. |

He found it eventually and now my cousin has the tp2, the screen is =D>. garming xt never looked so good compared to my tp1 screen (on my second one still going strong). So if you have the time just go to the store and just say I'm here to pick up my tp2 and maybe it will be there, good luck tp2 hunting. anyway to check if the phone is NIB or refurbished? This one didn't come with a wall charger so more than likey its refurb which is still awesome of sprint to phase out the tp1 out there that are constantly pooping. |

Sprint really frustrates me sometimes. My keyboard is going again! There are no repair stores around me so I can't bring it to them (83440). Frankly the TP2 is nice and I would love to get that, but I have to wait untill they show up on advanced exchange or Asurion. If the HD2 comes to Sprint and it's good enough without the hard keyboard I will just pay the money to get it. That thing is beautiful.

does anyone know if getting one of these through advanced exchange (i guess that's what it's called) will mess up your upgrade eligibility? Just wondering if I could swap this out, and then in a few months if a phone I like comes out I will still have that rebate available. (i'm out of contract now)

I recently had my TP replaced. They couldn't fix mine so they gave me another TP, I didn't bother to ask if i could get the TP2 "didn't want to be disappointed if they said no" nor did they say anything about selecting a different device. TP2 would be nice but its the same as far as specs go isn't it?

hey one rep on the tec line told me i was absoulutly right and that sprint employees shouldnt be worried about giving a new replacement model to tp owners because SPRINT DOSNT MAKE MONEY OFF THIER PHONES THEY MAKE MONEY OFF CUSTOMERS PHONE PLANS (sprint network) and that i need to get the replacement as soon as possible to be satisfyed then he says hold on let me transfer you to someone who can get that started for you , i was happy with a smile on my face then the next tec got on the line and i was like WTF just happend this guy was telling me there was no such instruction exsisting but he can create a ticket and have me go into a Service repair and they can help me take care of my phone however they may or may not offer you a different phone its up to them. I was like transfer me back to the other guy u as$hole! LOLZ
I guess ill try back on monday. |

so i've been checking up on the limited success of sprint upgrading customers from the tp to the tp2 and i figured i'd post my experience. i noticed the chrome bezel was cracked a couple days ago and my keyboard was glitchy running silence final so i called *2 and talked to a sprint rep. this is my 4th touch pro as it is and i just figured they'd send me another refurb, instead they told me they aren't authorized to issue phones and that i would have to take it to a sprint service center. took it in yesterday and they said they could fix it, so i scheduled an appt today. i missed the appt and when i got there they were busy. waited like a half hour and the manager/greeter came over to me and said i'd waited long enough and that he'd help me. i mentioned what was wrong, he looked at my file and said he was checking on something. then just comes out and says that they're having problems with tp's and that he had just ordered me a brand new tp2 that will be there monday for me to pick up. i didn't have to mention the wel list or anything about the memo he just straight up offered the tp2. and here i was thinkin about settling for the tour or just a properly functioning tp. now i just wanna figure out a way to get the hero. :)
