Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!

Got another brand new TP1 today, that makes 4 in the past 2 weeks.

I can wait for a TP2, HardSPL isn't even released yet so I'm sure this TP1 won't break until it's released.

Mine was done all over the phone... the manager didn't give me the e-ticket #, just a warehouse order #... and she's having it shipped to her store for me to exchange there... is there a way thru Sprint's website to confirm that the # she gave me is actually an order with my name on it?

Congrats. I'm still waiting after 2 weeks as well. My 5+ hour time difference really killed me this time.

That's really too bad, don't give up! I was worried the TP2 wouldn't be made available again but it was, and hopefully it will be again.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!

I'm really glad I saw this thread! Last week, my TP started this fancy new thing where instead of vibrating, it makes an awful, loud rattling noise. This morning I finally had a chance to flash my phone back to stock (new Sprint ROM for good measure), relock it, and take my phone into my local Sprint repair shop. Once there, I explained this new problem and another problem I've had since I got the phone last November (brown circles intermittently appearing on the LCD). The customer service rep then took my phone back to the technician.

After a couple minutes, she came back and explained the technician was checking to see if he could fix the phone and if not, which phone it could be a replacement. Even knowing about the WEL list, I decided not to bring it up. Instead, I played dumb and asked if I would be given an option for the replacement, if my phone indeed needed replacement. She responded with showing me the HTC Snap and explained that it is also a Windows Mobile device, except it doesn't have a touch screen. Exhibiting disappointment, I explained that I really enjoy the touch screen, so I asked about the Touch Pro 2. She said, "that might be an option. I'll let you know what the technician finds out," and said it shouldn't be too much more of a wait.

Another few minutes went by and she came back. This time she brought my phone back to me and explained that it does need to be replaced, but they would have to order it. She explained that I had "several options" for a replacement. Off the top of her head, she listed each of the phones on the WEL list, including the TP2, then asked which one I would like. I said I'd like to go with the TP2. She said OK and explained they would order it today and it should be in on Monday.

So, for the weekend I still have my ol' Touch Pro. It'll give me a little time to say good bye and play with Calkulin's newest kitchen a little bit before making the switch. I'll report back early next week when I have the phone (unless something goes awry).

Thanks for all the info in the thread :)

Did the person who wrote the email to Dan Hesse about the inconsistencies ever get a reply?

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!

I sent an email to Sprint about not being able to use the advanced exchange. Here is what I sent them:

Quote:

I have been trying to exchange my phone through the online
advanced exchange website and keep getting the following message: "We
are unable to process your request at this time due to an inventory
system failure. Please allow 24 hours and try again or visit one of our
Phone Repair Centers for further assistance. To find a Phone Repair
Center, please select the Find A Store option at the bottom of this
screen." It would be a major inconvenience for me to have to drive to a
Sprint store as it would be about a hour drive to get there. The
problems with my phone include chargng problems, phone shuts off when I
hang up a call and the battery over heats among other problems. It is
also my understanding faulty Touch Pros are now being replaced with
Touch Pro 2s. That would be a better option for me as this is already my
second Touch Pro. Please email me back and let me know what my options
are.
This is the reply from Sprint:

Dear ***** *****,

Thank you for contacting Sprint. I apologize for the inconvenience you
have experienced due to the process and understand that you would like
to exchange the Touch Pro with Touch Pro2.

The Total Equipment Protection Program is added to your account.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to exchange the Touch Pro with Touch
Pro2 under insurance.

Because it is not possible to test your phone remotely, please visit a
Sprint Store so an on-site technician can conduct a diagnostic test to
confirm the defect is covered under the warranty. I have made a note on
your account records so that the store associate assisting you will have
a point of reference. You can find the nearest Sprint Store at
www.sprintstorelocator.com.

Also, to get the phone replaced under advance exchange, please call
Sprint Technical Support at (888) 211-4727 and follow the prompts for
technical assistance.

We value your business and appreciate the opportunity to serve you.
Please reply to this email or visit www.Sprint.com/mysprint if we can be
of further assistance.

Sincerely,
Sandra C.
Sprint
Has anyone called the number listed in that email? Has anyone had any luck getting a Touch Pro 2 (or Touch Pro for that matter) by calling that number?

I need a replacement soon. Now my phone won't charge off my car charger or usb. It only charges off the wall charger (very slowly). I am getting annoyed every time I hang up a call I have to pull my battery out and turn it on again.](*,)

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!

ive called the 888-211-4727 number a couple times over the past 10 days. cant get no love. i get a bunch of "now turn your phone off and back on"s, and a few "i am just running some tests" and even a "you need to go to the repair center". but no love calling that number.

of course the issue i have is that my reception on the tp is absolutely useless in my house. the moto razr and Q9c we have on other lines work fine, but the reception on the tp is horrid. unfortunately that means all their diagnostics, both calling in and at the repair center, come back fine and dandy.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!

So my TP's screen started crapping out... i took in to a corporate store..
they said they need to order me a replacment. i told the guy that i heard we could have different choices of phones. he said "well yeah only 1 other phone, but no we cant give you anyother phone if i can order another touch pro phone for you".. i said okay .. today (two days) later my phone arives at the store and i go pick it up. things seemed to work at the store.traveling to the store each day takes me about 1.5 hours ..

well i get home.. and i open up my keyboard and try to type and i get no response.. i also notice the there was no back light... i tried again.. no response.. after a while the keyboard started working but still no backlight.. backlight seems to not work at all.. dont know if it ever worked on the phone and we were in a well lit store when i tested it so i didnt even notice if it was backlit.

so now tommorow I can go back to that same store.. or go to a different store in that same area... i feel i should go back to the store i went to early to give them a shot to fix the situation.. but i have a feeling it will be the same old crap, and they will just order me anoter refurb TP1.. im thinking of calling or chating with sprint tommorow morning to see if anyone will explicitly mention the WEL program and if so discussing that with who ever i speak to in the store

Thank you for speaking with me today. During our conversation we
discussed the concerns that prompted you to contact us at
Dan@Sprint.com. I contacted our corporate stores regarding our repair
and replacement phone policy. The type of replacement phone that you
will receive is dependent upon the inventory of the store. The
available replacement phones for the HTC Touch Pro are the Treo Pro, HTC
Snap and Blackberry that you previously listed. However, if the store
does not have any in stock and are not able to order any another
possible option they may offer is the HTC Touch Pro 2. I understand
that you have contacted Customer Care regarding your concern. If your
phone is replaced over the phone with our Advanced Exchange department
then it would be replaced with the same model phone. Please keep in
mind Customer Care does not have access to the store’s inventory for
more accurate information regarding phone replacements it would be best
to speak with the in store technicians. To locate a store in your area
please visit www.Sprint.com and click on the store locator.
