Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I went to a service center. They said I would have to have to bring it to them 3 times in the last 6 month for the same problems I've had. No biggie. I'm sure they have enough customers.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I opened my door this morning and there was a package from Sprint. That was fast! I opened it up and found my Touch Pro2. New. In. Box.
Nuff said. |

DAMIT, still out of stock of TP2. the guy explained to me that there are 2 diffrent inventories. one for tp2 to be sold and those they have in warehouse, and there is a TP2 replacement center and that center is the only place they can order me the tp2 from because im replacing with tp and that warehouse is out of them, and to check back a diffrent day.
im trusting him and waiting and trying a diffrent day. |

When I called sprint, some rep snidely said, "well if you want a different phone, what we can go ahead and do is offer you retail price which can be seen on our website." So I politely told her that I was not in the position to spend several hundred dollars on a new phone as I just did that for the TP, and sincerely thanked the ***** from the bottom of my heart. Regardless of corporate directive, many sprint store employees are refusing to give out TP2's for some reason. They can easily just click the TP2 as a replacement from the listing on their computer screens. I think these employees are taking business decisions into their own hands, and are deeming the free upgrade "unfair" in their own minds. And of course that's where business decisions should be made: by low level Sprint repair employees. This isn't meant to bash sprint employees, but look- if you get directive from the top to do something, so long as it's ethical, you do it. Don't try to take matters into your own hands. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
My Touch Pro keyboard has been unresponsive for awhile now. When I saw that I could trade it in for a TP2 I at once went to the repair store. They could not fix my keyboard and instead gave me a new Touch Pro.
When I asked about the Tp2 and if I could exchange it, the man became very quiet and leaned in closer and said "I've been trying to get my hands on one of these gems, but unfortunately they're all on backorder. you can try loking around or coming back, but right now we don't have them." I knew he would give me one if they had it. It was nice of them to give me a new Touch Pro and fix the keyboard issue like that, but wow would a TP2 would have been great... |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
First of all, thanks OP for the Quick heads-up! I went to a Central/Regional Sprint store/center to see if they could repair my TP and they ordered a TP2 as a replacement - overnight, no questions, hassles!- The TP got locked in the rainbow boot screen 2 days ago after the battery got to 1% charge left. I charged it overnight and tried flashing a stock sprint ROM, but it kept booting to the rainbow screen. Then I flashed the sprint re-locker to see it that would take it out of the rainbow screen and that REALLY got it screwed up because now it wont flash from either the SD card or ActiveSync.
The idea here is that they (Sprint reps) CAN order you a TP2 as a replacement if they see it fit. In my case, the rep just looked at the phone, went to one of the technicians to confirm and 2 minutes later came back to me and said the part they need to fix it is not in stock so he would order me a replacement. I asked if I could get a TP2 and he pretended to check the warehouse inventory in the computer or something and then told me to pick up a TP2 tomorrow :D Good luck everyone and hope you can upgrade too! NOTE: I really hope I get a new TP2 not a refurbished one... |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
My ASC tried again today. Out of stock. I'll just keep calling until they can help me out.

Any employees here? If so, I wanted to know what warrants a refurb replacement compared to a NIB. It seems like a few have gotten lucky with NIBs while the majority are waiting for refurbs.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
ok so i've been away for a little while... what is going now lol
Can I call a sprint # and request a replacement or do I have to go into the store. Not a member of the HF so I couldn't see the memo. My phone is from december of 2008 and is having issues with keyboard (like everyone else) and the white lights stay on (home, back, call & answer) and rarely turn off anymore lol. Would that qualify? Yah I'm not a noob just behind on the times! |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
In L.A I had no luck getting a TP2 but the great news is that they fixed my broken screen and D-pad. I told the repair tect I hope this time it last and we won't have to order yet an other replacement.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I thought I'd try to stop at my local store, memo in hand. Shared my issues with the TP and History. The manager listened since I brought in both the Refirb I had just received AND the phone that was broken. I explained how the broken one was in better shape than the refirb and told him I'd had enough of the model. He immediately offered me the TP2, but when he went to pull it up on the screen it was no longer listed as a TEP replacement (he showed me the screen). I just figured that's because they're out of stock. He gave me his card and told me to call him every couple days and he will check, when it is available again he'll replace both mine and my wife's.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Well, I went on Friday to the authorized service center. Told the rep what the problem was. I mentioned the memo and she said no problem. She did have to order it. Long story short, I got the phone call today to come and pick up my TP2. I just had to make sure to bring the tp1 for the exchange. I am a very happy camper. :):):)

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Confirmed. Thanks for the information.
Walked into ASC in Columbus, Ohio with front buttons not working... technician behind the counter listened while I told him about the phone locking up while charging overnight, typed a few keys and stated that they were out of repair parts and asked if I would like a TP2 as a replacement considering this was the 4th time. Hell Yeah!!! Tomorrrow @ 3pm. You guys rock! |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I am in columbus as well which store did you go to? Thanks in advance.

Sawmill Road.
By the way, I look forward to seeing (reading) everyone in the TP2 forum! |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
heh i wonder if they would give you a hero as a replacement... nah let me stop
|
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I don't understand how some of us are getting OOS issues while others are getting there phones ordered.
I am going to try the Sawmill Rd store and hope to get better luck. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
So are there any more TP2s in stock at the warehouse yet?
|
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I know that this has been mentioned. I would stay away from the Sprint stores, and go to the third party stores. My experience at the Sprint store is that they are idiots.
I know that this has been asked also, but I would like to know as well. If you have a priority #4, you get the REC (I'm assuming reconditioned) TP2, and priority #5 will get you a new TP2. I'm on my 4th TP, and would I be priority #5 if I was on my 5th+? My guess is that if your phone can't make or receive calls, it would get a priority #5? I was also told that it's OOS, and check back. The system doesn't let you put the order in when it's backordered, so how are some people getting this ordered today? Is it going in and out of stock throughout the day? Lastly, why are people bringing in printouts of the internal memo? Wouldn't this just throw a red flag about all the replacements? It's like this, if you see a price mistake online, just buy it, never call. Same would apply to this internal memo. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Ok, just returned from the store. I got a refurb Touch pro 2. Not like I really care if its refurb or new, long as I got my phone fixed. The tech was also kind enough to add a wall charger to the request. So, all in all I am happy. The memo worked for me and got me into a different phone. As I said, all the problems I had with mine, even the tech said they are having more returns for the touch pro than any other phone since she has been a tech.
To everyone who is trying to 'get over' on the system... I wish you good luck, as they are getting more and more stringent on what is needed for a return. Don't think you will get a new in box phone because its likely you will not. If you are having legit issues, be patient and be nice to the techs. I am sure once you document you are having problems, they will help you out if you are cool about it. Lastly, I want to tell everyone that while I love this new phone, I also loved my touch pro when I first got it. EVERYONE will love their phones when they first get them, but I am sure the touch pro will be gin to show issues soon and then we will be whining about how the original didn't have X problems or something close to that. Take this for what its worth and understand, The grass is not always greener on the other side. Love you guys to death, but damn, relax and enjoy. :p |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I went to the one in down town Long Beach off Long Beach blvd and Ocean. The girl that helped me out was new and didn't know much. Next time I have problems I'll be heading to an other store because that one is a corporate store.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Update:
Went to Los angeles store on 300S broadway first, been there a few weeks ago because my keyboard broke and got a different rep from the one I knew (I should've requested that guy) and was told they were out of keyboards. I brought up the memo and the guy brought it to the techs and then basically told me they first need to try to fix it again before I'm eligible for one. Let him order one and left. went to another one that said they have keyboards, they didn't after making me waste time driving there. Next day this phone starts flipping out charging/overheating. Bring it back to 300 S broadway, this time they say there's nothing wrong with it after first trying to claim it may have been liquid damage or the battery. Now I'm just going to wait for the keyboard which I highly doubt will work (obviously something else must be wrong if my keyboard broke THREE WEEKS after getting it replaced, and that was after getting this phone at the end of August, meaning I've had it ALMOST for two months (the fourth one), and then speak to the same rep who said I would be eligible after they try to fix it. Anyone in LA had any luck somewhere else without all this nonsense? |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I read somewhere that someone was able to place an order for an HTC Touch Pro 2 just now. I called the Alexandria VA store again and they said that the Pro 2 was still on backorder and that I should check back again on Friday or next week. Hm. I'm going to try again on Wednesday.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
still no luck in kc, mo. tried calling all the stores and asking about options, even called cs and exec services and they all told me to pretty much forget about it ever. the only promising thing i heard was from exec services who said you have to at least go through 3 of the same model.
i was heading in to the store anyway to get a keyboard fixed and stumbled upon this, thought id try but to no avail. im sure this one will crash and burn just like the others. its just frustrating seeing people from all over the country have tp2s handed to them and im supposed to be in the sprint mecca and cant even get a bone thrown to me. the reps here just seem so spiteful, like they need to defend sprint to the death and not worry about what really matters, their customers concerns. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
My wife and I tried three stores in Philadelphia suburbs and I didn't have any luck. The best luck was one that my wife went to one and the TP2 was on the list of replacements but when the tech tried to select it, the system said it was back ordered. By the time I got to the store a few hours later the TP2 wasn't even showing as a valid replacement anymore. The tech guessed that maybe Sprint only authorized x number of each model (BB Tour, Curve, Treo Pro, etc) as a replacement for the TP and we've exhausted the TP2's. He said he'll keep trying for us, he understood what we were trying, but was cool about it. I'm worried we might have missed the window.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Went to 2 repair centers today and 2 corporate stores, only luck I had was at a corporate store the rep I know who has always been helpful and knowledgeable offered me a different phone but didn't mention the tp2 until I brought it up. He did say it is an option but that the system won't let him choose it because it is OOS. Repair centers said the only alternative they are allowed to offer is treo pro, NO thank you. This is my 5th malfunctioning touch pro. Called customer service and was told that there are 4 alternatives to choose from but my acount doesn't qualify for over the phone advanced exchange because I've already had 5, she then told me that made me one of the lucky ones who got away with getting that many. HA its been nothing but a headache since last november.

their just doing their jobs brosuf. i mean if they can't do it, then they can't. remember, reps can only do as much as their allowed to do, nobody realizes that. they can only approve so much and if they can't order any then they can't. that's all they have in their power. |
