android loading time-please read ASAP
 

i am trying to load an android system on my touch pro and it is at the black scrolling screen for the last 10 minutes or so. is it suppose to take this long or do i have a problem?

it is for the touch pro but i can't get it to load all the way. it will go to the linux boot screen and will keep scrolling every 10 or so lines saying waiting on sd card

I had a similar problem with my touch pro. if memory serves. you need to make sure that you change the startup.txt to our device, by default it wont work without that. details here http://www.htc-android.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=109 thats what I followed to get mine working. It's cool. but useless without data. fingers crossed. new android 1.6 out with cdma support!!!

Oh, disregard any reference to putting files into a tmp dir. that doesn't apply anymore, just throw everything into root on memory card.

*edit* fixed the reference to default.txt. it should be startup.txt

I had the same problem. Posted on the forums at connect-utb and they pointed me to the proper startup.txt for a RAPH800. I can load it up and get it going if its plugged in to power. Nothing else works from there. You can go into menus and change settings but with no voice or data, there is no point because its not a phone anymore. Oct 11th for sprint users will prove to be a mighty fine day with the release of the HTC HERO and i'm assuming with the newly released Donut.

they claim to have voice, data, and mms working now. they're still working on GPS, wifi, and stability. going to go sownload the new version now.

don't know what you mean by change the default.txt to our device. there was no default.txt file in the package that i saw. there was a startup.txt doc

it used to be called default.txt now its called startup.txt edit that for raph800 settings and you will be fine the raph800 settings are in the xda raph wiki you need to change your memtype and your calib data

idk, i edited the startup to the raph800 just like wiki said i even added the extra commands after boot like it suggested and it keeps giving me an error saying cant mount sd card

1 big detail is make sure u get the right 1 for your phone. for example i got a raph800 and i downloaded the raph100 and it scrolled a while. take out the battery an look for raph and a number. the number is the revision. then download the proper revision for your phone

So what is the proper version for a CDMA sprint touch pro? My downlaod from the original site I linked was for the touch pro/diamond.

head over to XDA and see what they have. this is the first i have heard that they had the phone actually working.

as far as I have read, they still don't have the radio on the cdma stuff working yet. all I have been able to do is check out the apps and stuff that come with the os. interface and all that. with no data though, it's pretty useless at the moment. here is what my startup.txt contains that works for me:

my bad on the default/startup mix up. I typed startup, checked the wiki, thought I made a mistake so I edidited it. oops.

I had the same issue with mine mounting the card, this is my startup.txt file that is working on my Verizon Raph800:
The lines after boot are for issues with mounting the card. Since my phone is CDMA I'm patiently waiting for them to come out with a way for data to work.

Forgot to mention I had the same scrolling going on and realized it was searching through a Live Search folder in the root of my card that had hundreds aof files and folders. I deleted those and was able to finally start playing with Android. So make sure it isn't searching through other folders on your card, you will see this in the scrolling text when linux is trying to boot.

last i heard the ones working on this are waiting till the Hero is released next month and then they are going to pick it up again. that way they will have the CDMA drivers for everything. of course that could have changed since the last time i checked.

the need of the tmp folder is from the older loads. The new ones don't require that, just that the files and folders be in the root of the storage card. Are there any other files or folders on the sd card or is it a clean card?

Wasn't telling ya to wipe the card. Read my previous post about the live search folder. When the stuff is scrolling by make sure it isn't getting stuck on a folder you have, if it is copy it to your pc and test again.

got it to work by rewriting the startup.txt:headbang:

now i HAVE to be on the charger for it to work :/ so theres no point in trying to show off a somewhat dual booted phone. i dont wanna have to be like " hey check out andriod on my touch pro. and pull out my laptop plug in the phone all that mess... lol or say hey come to my car i gotta plug it in lol"

lol i know!! if i knew how to edit and mod i would work my a$$ off on this! i looked into it. but it would take me about 4 days just to learn abrevations alone lol
honestly. if i can get it to just load without being on the charger id be happy!!

WOW! sorry, but i've had this phone since January (not THIS ONE, but you know) and just now noticed (from playing in Android) that not just the "wheel" is touch sensitive, but all buttons... is there anything in wm that uses this feature?
