Verizon Touch Pro on Sprint

Good morning,

My nephew called this morning, he broke his Sprint phone. I have a Touch Pro from Verizon just sitting around.

The phone has been unlocked (when I used it, I always cooked my own firmware). I've flashed it with the latest stock Sprint firmware using the SD card method (which was always more reliable to me).

I read in a post about performing a ##786#/RESET, which I did.

When the phone rebooted, it says "Initial Programming Required". I hit 611/Send and it called Verizon customer service.

What have I missed?

Thanks...

Sprint typically only allows "Sprint" ESNs on their network. Unless you know someone that can add the ESN you are out of luck.

Sprint is pretty nice about foreign ESN's, Verizon are the nazi's when it comes to adding ESN's/MEID's. You're still missing the PRL/PRI, MDN, etc. Program those (check the Sprint to Verizon thread) and then do 611/whatever the programming code is for Sprint. Some ROMs (including the Sprint official) have a link in the Settings that updates all info on the phone.

Sprint is much worse than Verizon in this respect. If it's not a Sprint branded device then they won't activate it. They'd have to add the foreign ESN to their database and they won't do it.

Sprint will do it if your opening a new contract...
Verizon won't do it unless you get a rep that knows how to do it and doesn't care what company policy is!

Wait what? Now I'm really confused. What happened to the good ol days where you just unlocked the phone and put it on a different carrier? I just bought a verizon touch pro cause I thought I could just flash it and use it on sprint.

accepting other CDMA ESN's IS VZN's company policy. you just have to know who to talk to.
