Startup issue

I have a barebones rom that I built with the ppc kitchen. Everything works fine and it loads fast. However there is a strange thing happening and I haven't been able to stop it. When it starts, it runs the messaging program at startup. I have looked in the windows startup folder and there is no link there that launches the messaging. Any ideas how to find out what is going on and stop it from happening?

Id try memmaid, and look at "startup services".

It had to have been something I did. I did a hard reset and the problem went way.

I have no idea what I did that caused it. The only entries in the startup folder were the links to batti, mobile shell, and psShutxp.

Well this issues seems to have popped up again. I have no idea what is causing it. I have a clean rom and I have checked the windows\startup folder and the only thing there is the link to start batti and psshutxp and that is it. Is there a reg setting in windows mobile that is the equivalent of the Run reg key in windows xp?

in the windows messaging window, i believe its menu, options and there is a "display account picker" check box, try unchecking or checking it. i remember this being an issue when i was using energy rom'

This is strange. When winmo started it would show the today screen and you could see messaging on the taskbar so that it was running either in the background or transparent. I unchecked what you said and now when winmo starts it no longer shows the today screen but shows the messaging program. I am stumped.

Problem solved. I have absolutely no idea how this registry entry came about but under HKCU\Software\HTC\Bootlauncher\TMAIL there was a setting to launch tmail.exe. I removed this key(TMAIL key) and all is good again.
