Any way to disable charging while the phone is on external power?
 

I just got a new Mount to put my phone in while riding my motorcycle. The problem I have now is it is a waterproof mount... and also an almost heat proof one as well. I can charge my phone while riding but I have the problem of the phone overheating causing it to stop charging and pretty much nullifying using the phone while riding (for music, GPS, answering calls, etc. She just gets too hot)

I was wondering if anyone has found a way to disable the charging part so that the phone can stop heating up the battery while using the radios and such? My old X50v was able to run with no battery but as of yet the TP still needs one at all times. I am looking into modifying the mount to have a little ventilation but I don't want to make it useless waterproof wise as every long trip I am on it seems I get stuck in a rainstorm at one point or another.

Well a little wet on my trip it seems would be more like the phone sitting in a bucket of water for about 4 hrs lol. 500 Miles of pure rain from Winimucka to Elko Nevada lol.

Start --> Settings -->System -->Battery -->Check, "When device is turned on, do not charge the battery when connected to the PC." --> OK -->OK -->X -->Soft Reset.

That is for when it is connected to the PC. Will it also work if it is on connected to a wall outlet/car charger?

just realized OP thread was confusing as hell, am glad I didnt overthink it:scratch: charging isnt the main culprit that gets the batty hot, but the use of radio,gps ...are the main factors

Maybe so but either way I have the problem of the device getting too hot to charge the battery so it stop and uses battery power till dead. I would like to find a way around charging the phone while using it so it can be near full, and just use external power without charging or using the battery at the same time.

if im not mistaken, the phone will not run off of the external power, it runs off the battery regardless and the external power charges it while its using batt power. Its probably HTC's way of making the charging circuit a UPC as well to avoid power surge issues.
