I had a spot like that on my TP too. Although I had no issues whatsoever with the unit till the kb died and I got a new one....

If you have a screen protector on it then it may be something in between the protector and the screen. If not then, well good luck my friend. You may be due for a replacement.

I believe that happens when you remove the screen protector from the phone like pulling a band aid off you made the TFT part of the screen rise like a bubble

Re: Is this what i think it is?

Repair store may change that in less than 5 minutes. Done out of the door. My power switch wasnt responding well and took it to Sprint, bam they changes the screen part ,then I remembered the little tiny smudge i had on my screen..two birds ,one stone kinda deal:scratch:

if you didnt notice it says "alltel" on the top right. in that case the alltel touch pro's are pretty rare and hard to get a replacements for. you usally have to get the vzw tp now :(

i never had a screen protector on this phone. i thought i had a stain in my shorts cuz the shorts i had on i wear all the time and were really dirty that day....not the case. its in the shape of a triangle

the phone itself is not effected. i never notice it unless the screen is off and in the right angle.

will this eventually effect the phone? as i said before i didnt know what to search for so i didnt look to see what it effects the phone

At the moment it gone even at looking at the right angle. It does however appear to rear its head when I am at work and my work is in a cold related area. Right now it is in a warm environment my house. So temp. is a factor.

dude, we may not always get along, but thats rough...

u sure nothing happened to it/ could be the angle, but the entire bottom left corner looks completly jacked too... also the entire right side, top to bottom, looks like uit has a giant crease or line all the way down it..

added to ur pic below, what all the other stuff??

Re: Is this what i think it is?

its also only seen under certain types of light. My 1st TP had that and got it replaced, luckily with an ALLTEL TP.

well i didnt want to say this because i think people would think worse then it was, but if you remember MAYBE. i posted a thread about my touch pro i got in the mail with the screen poking out? on the right side? well a couple days i noticed the same thing on this phone but on the left side, BUT not as bad. like you barley notice it and actually have to feel pretty hard to see it.

also i kinda notice the mark on the right side you showed me but it doesnt look that bad actually? it could be the reflection maybe? i have cds glued on my cieling

boredandtattooed 09-06-2009 02:50 PM

Re: Is this what i think it is?

yeah it could just be glare and reflections from above.... at first glance on the original pic, i was like oh damn, he mustve dropped it, then stepped on it-which ive done back in the mogul days...

anyways, YIKES! hopefully u find a way to get an alltel TP and not a VZW one.......

Re: Is this what i think it is?

You have whats called a detached digitizer. That mark will get bigger over time. Also note that it is mostly visible under flourescent lighting. Sprint will fix it for free.

yeah the bank i was at only had them and i could see it the whole time i was there. constantly cleaning the screen thinking i had an oil screen. we will see what happens when the tp2 comes out for verizon... ;)

hmm sprint didnt replace mine, they were like oh the phone still works properly so you have to wait till the phone stops working correctly.

It sounds just like a detached digitizer. However, as one person reccomended I would *personally* recommend against pressing on the detached area.
I would reccomend taking it to a Toshiba Certified tech and getting him to do it, because if he messes up you get a new machine. Unless you are really low on cash, or not very concerned (maybe have the system guard and not worried about a possible wait on a repair) go ahead and press.

Most people just go ahead and press, I have never heard of this messing anything up as well. But like I said, I just like to go the safe route.

Unfortuently I do not remember for sure where you press, I beleive its the border but to be sure run a search over at the TabletPCBuzz forums where this topic is discussed almost daily.

Good luck, let us know how it works out.
does the first part of that quote sound about right? think if press in the ****ed up area it wll get worse?

Re: Is this what i think it is?

No, I believe it will not make it worse A Detached digitizer makes the response time on the tapping will be longer i had a Averatec tablet pc with detached digitizer near the close window button.
