How do I disable voice command recognition?

This doesn't seem to happen with new headsets, but eventually after a week or two, my headset seems to trigger voice recognition accidentally, often going as far as dialing and connecting phone calls before I realize it.

Is there a way to just turn that feature off, and in fact for the touch pro to stop accepting input from the headphones at all?

I didn't know that. But somehow, the headset is able to re-enable the voice command after I've disabled it in settings.

Is there an exe file that I can delete or rename that would make win 6.5 unable to start?

Try renaming "voicecmd.exe". It should be in the windows folder.

voicecmd.exe is in the rom. Totalcommander was able to replace it with a 0 byte version, but the headset button still starts a phone call even when there is no real voicecmd left.

Is there a way to disable starting phone calls with the headset?

Thanks a lot for the leads I've gotten so far, I feel like I'm getting closer and closer.

Re: How do I disable voice command recognition?

Are you sure you're not just hitting the redial sequence in your headset? This doesn't involve voice command, but with most headsets (depending on the specific model) either a double press or a long press will redial the last number.

As borderandtattooed indicated, go into that control panel and uncheck "enabed". This will turn off voice command. Are you actually hearing prompts? I suspect you are not hearing prompts, because if you did the call wouldn't be connected before you realized it - you'd hear voice command beeping and confirming that you wanted to dial (and the name, etc.). Your headset isn't capable of turning on voice command by itself - there is no way to do that from a headset. It is possible to use the command "start *program name*", but voice command doesn't start that way, and then you'd actually have to be issuing that command.

Are you positive you're not just either hitting the redial sequence on the headset or pocketdialing? The default windows screen lock disables itself when you get a call or a text message, so it's possible to pocket dial unless you use a real locking program like S2U2 or pocketshield. This has been a long-time problem for WM and the reason that 3rd party locking utilities are so critical.

Thanks for the info.

It does sound like the redial sequence in the headset. Can that be disabled?

Let me add I use touch lock pro, a great, small free program over at xda which locks everything nicely except for this.

What model headset? Typcially you cannot disable those types of functions. However, a simple tap on the main headset button dosen't normally initiate a redial.

Some non-OEM replacement headsets. I've had the same problem with multiple HTC stock headsets, but those fit much worse than these.

Can only imagine the button is pressing against something and initiating the call. Possible? My only recommendation is to unplug it from the phone when you're not using it. Doesn't help much sorry.
