cannot load themes--I've tried almost everything
I am trying to install a down-loaded theme on my HTC Touch Pro (Alltel). I can download the .cab file to the phone and execute it ok, and it tells me to restart, but the theme is not loaded.
I have tried to install serveral different themes but to no success. I called Alltel support. They took a test phone and downloaded and then installed a theme with no problems. I was told to go into Settings-->today, and disable touchflo3d prior to installing the theme. But that didn't help. I've even tried a hard reset of the phone---no luck. Can anyone advise on what I am doing wrong? Would really like to get this to work and would appreciate any help! Thank you! |

Re: cannot load themes--I've tried almost everything
*first and foremost, it is always recommended that before the installation of any theme, you deativate TF3D first... you can do this by going into 'start menu> settings> today> items tab> unchecking Touch flo 3D'... all subsequent instruction provided here, are based on the fact that you have already done so...Also, this tutorial assumes that whatever them file you have downloaded and saved to your device is saved on your storage card... if it is not, you will have to adjust appropriatly* Cabbed Themes Installation cabbed themes are themes that come in .cab file extension format, these are the simplest, easiest and safest ways to install a theme if you find them. 1. using file explorer navigate to the downloaded .cab theme saved on your storage card 2. click to activate/run the file... 3. when prompted, choose to 'install to device' 4. Once process is done soft reset 5. reactivate touch flo 3D in your today settings .Theme Installation .theme installs are a bit more complicated... but still pretty simple to Install a .theme file, you will need a couple things first. first youll need a program called 'Diamond config tool' which you can get Code: . (if your having problems with installing or running the program remember to go into the program folder once installed and delete the tweaks XML file...more detail regarding that can be found in that thread.) next you will need to create a new folder in the root of your storage card, named 'Themes'... you can do that by navigating to your storage card with file explorer, total commander or resco explorer and opening up the menu and clciking 'create new'... and name the new folder 'Themes' now that, that is completed, your ready to begin 1. Dropp the .theme file (of the theme you wish to install) into the new Theme folder you just created 2. Open/ run the daimond config tool you downloaded 3. open the Appearance Tab 4. In the select theme the drop down list will now show whichever .theme file(s) you put into the 'Themes' folder... choose the one you wish to install and click apply 5. Save and soft reset 6. Reactivate touch flo .Zip installations To install these themes, the process is basically the same as installin a .theme file, with one minor change... 1. using resco explorer or total commander or even File explore (w/ the extension add on), simply rename the .zip file to .theme 2. follow the steps to installing .theme file listed above Now your finished, provided youve followed the instructions, you should see your them install just fine after a soft reset and restarting touch flo 3D Hope this helps... feel free to hit thanx on your way out! |

You also need to select a theme other than the sprint one before install.
