Disabling Fast charge

I want to install a program to accurately meter battery usage, down to 1%

http://www.nuerom.com/BlogEngine/pag...ueBattery.aspx

Problem is, I don't want the FastCharge that comes with it as I think it's more damaging to the battery - in general, Li-Ion cells get most charge cycles out of them if they are charged slow. FastCharging will work but not have as high lifetime of the battery device.

All Fast charge does is makes your phone think your car charger and usb cable are wall chargers. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Read this post for more info. No2Chem talks about it...

Well, you also have this:

PSU's in computers use this method for each rail (regulators) to give the component ONLY the amount of power it needs to operate fully. Without these regulators, Your MB or components would fry like an egg.

I know energy rom has a tweak section where you can disable fast charge. I haven't seen any cabs floating around to make those icons. I'm assuming it's a reg edit. I charge my phone every night on a wall charger so I don't worry too much about this. The only time it's hooked up to my pc is when I'm transferring files or flashing....

that's nonsense, they limit the fast charge because of *potential* damage to a computer's usb port, but fast charging only goes at about 904 mA's where as a usb port is designed to run at 1A (1000mA's). So unless the manufacturer of the motherboard with the usb is crappy and can't have their USB ports outputting at 90% of their power capacity. Something is wrong.

If the battery itself does die then just goto a Sprint store and get a new one for free, it wouldn't be YOUR fault that a battery can't do it's job ;)

Re: Disabling Fast charge

I installed these battery meters, to 1%, and it immediately jumped to 93%.

Maybe it's the new Li-IOn cell that needs to be conditioned. I will try to discharge it as far as I can, ideally to 2.5V but I fear that it won't let me.

I got the 3.7V, stock 1340 mAh from Sprint last nite when they replaced the LCD that failed.

Re: Disabling Fast charge

The documentation on those battery meters that read in 1% increments state that it is a little inaccurate in the first 10%, i.e. 100%-90%.

Interesting, I actually have noticed that being true.
