Newbie needs advice/help
 

I've just ordered an HTC Touch Pro from Verizon [To be honest, I kinda like the design on this one than the Touch Pro 2 that will be coming soon] ...I had to switch to a newer phone because my Treo 700p no longer gets signal anywhere [There is actually a tower no more than 3 miles from my house and I still get no bars].

Anyway, I would like to know a bit about the device.

1. Does the LED ring light up and pulse in different ways [In one video I saw an unlocked GSM Touch Pro with the LED lights "circle" the dpad while in standby mode] ...and does this "feature" go away if I unlock and upgrade to a custom ROM?

2. I really want to unlock the ROM and upgrade to SSK 2.6 WinMo 6.5... the problem is that I've NEVER unlocked or hacked a WinMo device and I've looked almost everywhere for tutorials [my girlfriend has an HTC Vogue on Verizon and I tried to unlock its ROM but failed and I haven't tried since]

Any other advice and/or feedback about the device would be greatly appreciated!

the center circle flashes slow in a circke for charging and fast for missed calls, email ect. no standby on my sprint tp. theres a flashing vid. around here and plenty of threads that explain how. you can even flash and unlock from sd which theres a link for. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=61333

Definitely going to check this out as soon as my TP gets in.

[Do you guys think I should have waited on the TP2? ...I prefer the TP1's design over the TP2]

IMHO... I would've waited. Mostly for the fact that it looks like Verizon decided (they finally figured it out) not to gimp the TP2. While I do have the TP1 from Verizon right now, I'll be upgrading as soon as the TP2 is released. All the other carriers' TP1 models are better equipped than Verizon's TP1. and it's looking like the Verizon TP2 will up to par with all the other carriers.

That being said, however, I still love my TP1 and flashing custom ROMs has alleviated a lot of the trouble that was introduced by Verizon gimping the phone.

Welcome to the world of flashing... I'll forewarn you... It's addicting...
