How do I go about a RMA/replacement to get a new phone?

Mine has oil under the screen. But I also scratched and dinged the sides of the phone as well. Is that okay?

Do you have insurance?

What kind of oil did you get under there? How did you manage that? Haven't seen that before!

I think it would be unreasonable to expect that your phone not have some wear and tear. I imagine your first stop would be Sprint CS

No I don't have insurance. Should I get it? I think by hitting the screen a little too hard. not sure though.

Well you can speak to Sprint Customer Service if it happened by something that you did not cause and see if they will replace it.

You could add insurance and wait a few weeks and then submit a claim. It'll cost you $100 to replace.

This would be considered insurance fraud though!

It's actually not insurance fraud. The phone is actually damaged. I'm not sure if there is open enrollment at the moment but that oil ring seems to be a common problem when the phone falls or stays in the sun for a while. With no insurance you might need to purchase a new one. Take the phone in and try your luck. If you go to a repair store they might consider it a defect and replace it for free.

Good Luck

I wouldn't say it's not insurance fraud.

I did the same thing when I got a crack in my windshield and I didn't have glass coverage. I called Progressive to put it on my policy and they specifically asked if I currently have any cracks in my windshield. Of course I said no and went on with the change and I called a couple of days later to get it replaced. When I called the agent even made a comment about me just adding glass coverage and was weary about approving the claim.

I can bet if they would have found out if the crack was present prior to me adding glass coverage, they would have taken action against me.

lol okay it might a be a bit of fraud. =0
I'm not saying go ahead and do it but they might not be too picky about it?

I wouldn't think they would be, but I'd definitely be cautious!

I've had insurance on my phones since I stopped buying them at CompUSA so hopefully I'll never be in that position.

They won't let you add insurance unless you take it to a repair center and show the repair center the phone first to see that it's not damaged. So, no, wouldn't be fraud but the repair center won't verify it's not already damaged.

I had the same thing happen to me, that's why I know. I swear I asked for insurance and noticed 2 months in that there was no insurance on the phone, the CSR Supervisor finally agreed to let me add insurance but only if I took it to a repair center first and THEY called in to verify the phone was fine.

WHY would someone not take insurance for a $500 phone? Wow, now you're going to have to buy a new phone.
