Flashing question
 

Quick question for the more knowlegable of you out there;

I just received my 4th TP from Verizon /Assurion (all screen issues) and was excited to take it out of the box, but dismayed to find out it was a refurb. I've been running DCD's ROM on all my previous phone and they worked like a champ. I went to install it on this phone, and in the middle of the RUU, it unlocks, gets to the part where the progress bar is on the screen and then says there's been a communication error and I have to restart the RUU. Treid that a few times along with the following;

Re-downloading the ROM
Flashing via the SD card
Rebooting the computer
Replacing the USB cable
Different USB ports

Thinking there was maybe a bug in the ROm (doubtful as its been phenominal) and just downloaded and tried MightyROM as well, and same issue.

Any ideas? This phone just isnt as fun with the stock ROM..

Try doing a hard reset with the stock Rom first then flashing it.
Just a guess but would be worth the time to see if it helps.

You didnt accidentally forget to unlock it first before flashing did you?

Just tried the hard reset and nothing. Same response. I unlocked it using DCD's cab (which is inclusive of the RUU)which worked good.

I dont think the Hard-SPL unlocker is included.
Check out this post about half way down, theres some specific instructions for VZW users.

Should have put that in my list of "tried's" as well. I went to that post first, dowloaded the unlocker and wnet through the steps, when i put the phone in bootloader it goes to the "loading" screen and stays there for eternity. After runnning the RUU, and the bootlader screen comes up it does say "security unlocked"

I cant believe this is such a pain. On my 3 previous TP's, I ran the RUU and done. It was a 5 minute affair. Didnt even get through an entire beer each time.

Man thats weird,
The only advice I have is keep trying. Maybe your loosing connection at some point?? Maybe you have a problem with your mini USB port or cable?

Progress. Finally. Using the unlocker here http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=69854

Its finally working. Until next week when the screen/keyboard craps out. Thanks to all of you for your suggestions.

FYI, when your in bootloader it always says "security unlocked" if its unlocked it should say spl-0.35. cmonex. if its locked it will be somthing like .35.0000 or something like that. it saying "cmonex" is the important part.
