To verify it wasnt just me I loaded up speedtest.net and ran some tests. When connected with this software I couldnt even load up speedtest's page without it timing out. I then reattempted using the WMWifiRouter software and was able to run a successful speedtest without it timing out.

Has anyone else noticed this? Im using Sprint as a service provider.

Very good info, I also use the WiFiRouter too, but this is still in the early stages of development, I believe it will be perfected in time...

I posted this in your ROM thread already Tech before I saw this, but besides what everyone said already, a shortcut is automatically installed under Settings->Connections.

Could I also suggest using the quote tags when you are directly copying/pasting someone else's words? It would make things less confusing.

the newer version that is floating around over at Xda also creates a shortcut until programs.

i dont think HTC thought it was the early stages of development when they released the app.. im sure they have no further plans to modify it... if someone else does then all their doing is recreating wmwifirouter v.91 or ealier, maybe with a nice interface...

free wifi is not new, hasnt been for awhile, waaaaaaaaay b4 HTCs app... WMWFIRouter had plenty of freeware versions b4 he made it a paid software

I'm not sure Tech's reply actually answered your question. I also have Sprint. Just about any decent cooked ROM has the "tweak" installed that will allow for internet sharing (tethering) when you hook up your phone to a computer. This tweak will make your phone act as a modem for the computer, but Sprint will view the activity as your normal data usage. In other words, your unlimited data on your phone is used instead of Sprint's "Phone as modem" service, which is (I think) $15 extra a month.

Sprint doesn't seem to have a very strong standing on that whole issue. They don't really push the phone as modem service that hard on their site. Even if you go to their stores, their own reps and sales people tell you that you can get around the phone as modem service. AFAIK, Sprint's not even bothering to look into a way to stop it.

So, as long as you don't abuse it (i.e. over 4-5 gigs a month, or whatever that limit is), and as long as you're not streaming multimedia all day everyday or torrenting up a storm, then with any decent cooked rom you can tether your phone worry free.

Sorry to get off topic.

Ok, back to the software that the original poster didn't create or appear to add value to, yet tried to take full credit for without even referencing the source, just adding a direct download link from the XDA forum. I cry foul, sir.

Mike

P.S. Edit-Looks like someone already properly answered you

good answer thanks. so is it worth paying 150 and getting out of my contract for the broadband and using the phone instead. im assuming the speeds are equal, but im also assuming it eats through your battery

well since your bound into a contract with your card... you may wanna explore all options here...

in some places your card may get u better performance..... in other places, maybe one of the several ways to tether with your device...

since your already locked in and paying... you may just wanna have the others and test things out b4 you go cancelling things and incurring charges on yourself with ETF fees

The only thing that eats up your batt life is using the wifi connection. I fyou are using your TP -phone as modem- or -internet sharing- then while your TP is plugged into your PC, it shouldalso be charging...? At least that is howe I have mine set-up. When I am DJing at an event, I always have my TP plugeed in so I can download songs if I need. Also it is nice to keep up on my sports score (Angels baby) while I am spinnin! Hope this helps...
