wont sync with computer
 

i plugged in my phone to the computer the phone says its charging but the mobility center(active sync) on windows 7 isnt connecting nor recognizing it. it worked yesterday...any ideas?

check start>settings>connections> usb to pc, make sure fast data synchronization is turned off and also check that you're using regular OEM battery drivers and not rapidcharge

I would check the ROM thread and see what battery driver it uses. What ROM are you on? chances are it uses the regular OEM driver. Can you still not sync even with fast data synchronization disabled? do you have it set to prompt when you connect USB?

Like raidzero said above or you can go to settings--usb to pc---and check "ask about connection type when i connect" that way everytime you connect the usb cable it will ask you what kind of connection will you prefer in this case you will click on ActiveSync, hope that helps

the same thing has happened to me a couple of times. Just restart both your PC and you phone and let both completly reboot before plugging back in and it should work just fine. In fact it just happened to me yesterday.

restarted my phone several times and have tried several computers, any ideas? also i cant get that volume down/center button/power button reset to work the phone just boots up

pull your microsd card out, leave out and try again. If this works, format the microsd card, this happened to me months back and this was my resolve

some VZW TP's (mine included) need this:

1. Turn off the power.
2. Press and hold the ENTER (Center) key, and then press the POWER key.
3. Release the POWER key, but continue pressing the ENTER key until you see the message on the screen

There was an instance on this site where someone had the same kind of problem you are having, they ended up getting their phone replaced.

Might work if you use a diferent version of ActiveSync.

does it work as a mass storage adapter? if it does, it's activesync related, either pc or ppc. otherwise it's you cable or port(s)

I always keep a brand new cord handy cuz my chair likes to roll over cords that fall on the floor.. :(

the fast charge driver does NOT break activesync.

I had this issue and had to remove the MicroSD card then restart my phone and computer. Once I did this activesync started working again. I put the card back in and haven't had the problem again.

yes, any time you hand your phone over to a rep (esp for a problem like this) there is always a chance you'll never see it again. (and secretly isn't that kinda what we want to happen by that point, otherwise why be there.. ;b)
and from what I understand Verizon is pretty convinced only they provide proper hardware/software for the network

just to 2xcheck have you tried on a non win7 machine/boot? another cord? different usb usb hosts?(ie hub) (not all ports are different hosts)

and it's late, but I didn't see any talk of flashing the shipped rom. I'd link but I'd have no idea what's the one you really want.

im running the previous version of ssk. it used to sync just fine i have tried a windows 7 machine and a vista machine. dont have any other cords but i'll try my friends tomorrow. right when the computer restarts and i open the mobile device center it says connecting for half a second and then just says not connected.

your not booting your computer or phone with them connected are you? cuz that has been know to cause issues.

lol, just checking.. i have forgotten to mention you should check your system notifications (I use dotfred taskmanager for this) there is a icon in the notifications tab to clear duplicates. (although many will and should remain)
also look for entries referencing repllog.exe (that's activesync) you should have one for rs232 and rndis

never tried ssk rom, just kitchen.. you can put a cab on without activesync just run it from your file explore.

I'm assuming you really want to fix the problem and not just hard-reset, cuz I gotta get some sleep and it is generally easier. but then again I keep bringing my 6mo old locked stock sprint rom phone back to life. ;)

i have the same problem soft reset and no sync for one day then it start working again and now i get "USB device not recognized" the select conection is displayed on my pro but my laptop does not recognize it any ideas?? im running on windows XP and Energy Rom Genesis 20/09

well, I wouldnt call it a fix to your problem, but ever since I installed microsoft myphone, I havent looked back. It essentially backs up your files on cloud, so any time you need to update or retreive contacts, texts, pics, songs, calendar, etc, its a connection away.

4 pages and you all have missed the tried and true fix for this....

Start>settings>connections>USB to PC> uncheck "enable advanced network functionality"
It says right below that "use this checkbox if activesync does not recognize the device".

Hope that helps...it worked for me on my other PPC phone.

I have been having same issue. Flashed new rom via sd..wont sync. I can take my girls pro. connect it pc sees it right away. mine it wont see. even in bootloader. after several minutes on the phone with a sprint tech he slipped. guess what. touch pros are having issues with motherboard. My motherboard is dying. So i was smart enough i flashed new stock rom via sd card. then relocked it via sd card. new "replacement will be here in a day"..... if you try flashing new rom from sd...and it still don't connect its your motherboard dying. I got mine replaced for free via sprints website.did a form the tech told me about.but if you have tep they will replace it.

They mentioned disabling "fast data synchronization". I went through those steps and did not see that as a choice, thats why I mentioned unchecking "enable advanced network functionality".
