Late text messages, permanet fix?

I am using pretty much stock Sprint Touch Pro
sprint pro clean up + SMS-MMS threading(that i switched to a few days ago)

I'm getting alot of texts crazy late
and sometimes if I make a phone call or launch a data connection using app, I get texts, I've looked around and didn't see anything

Re: Late text messages, permanet fix?

Something like this is what recently happened to my phone. I recently had it replaced by sprint as I (we lol) determined it a harware issue. Turns out I wasn't receiving text/incomming call notifications until I made a phone call.
It's like the radio quit, new tpro = no more problems.
I concluded the 1x radio notifications quit triggering the phone, it occurred after letting the phone get really hot while tethering at work and that whole weatherpanel data always on scare about a month ago...
....
...or are you talking about the drunk texting thing? Lol...

lol not the drunk texting thing

Well, I really don't want to go through that process of getting a new Tpro
My phone is at 1x all the time,so any options what I can do? to make sure its triggering, making a call doesn't always work

Re: Late text messages, permanet fix?

I tried all the radios, new roms, etc. I finally called sprint tech support, we upped the PRL and what not and couldn't get it to work. So they sent me out a new one, a brand new refurb to replace my 2 month old baby brick. The phone just got too hot, and as a result something melted/came-unsoldered/whatever. My fault or theirs, the hardware just couldn't handle the heat...

call sprint and tell them whats going on. maybe they can change something on your profile for an easy fix.

Re: Late text messages, permanet fix?

When I was with Sprint my friends could chisel their messages on a stone and hand deliver them faster than Sprint could deliver them. I spent hours on the phone with tech support and went through several TP replacements before I gave up and Verizonized it. Now my texts are instantly delivered in both directions. The strange thing is that I have another friend that has a Diamond and he gets his in a reasonable amount of time. So who knows what the problem is.

In the west, where I'm at, I would say coverage is a wash. Especially with the roaming agreements the 2 carriers have with each other. However, right before I switched, not only was I having issues with text messages, but I was also having a problem where I'd have 4 bars of signal, but my phone would never ring and callers would be sent to voicemail. Sometimes the voicemail indicator wouldn't come through for an hour or so. I tried setting the slot cycle index lower, working with Sprint tech support, swapping out phones several times, and they just couldn't fix it. I was really bummed I had to switch after 9 years of Sprint's great prices and the first to get the cool phones, but the service just wasn't working out.

I swapped from Sprint to VZ for all the reasons already listed -problem solved.

Below is a copy+paste from my post in another thread... The thread is about battery life, but it also invloves changing the SCI. By changing your SCI's value to 1, I can guarantee no more late messages or calls. I have put the steps which you need to follow below in bold lettering.
Original post

People having battery problems EVEN after trying different radios... This one's for you... Try this and let me know if you see any difference. Note for this study since the terms are just battery use and not cellular strength, I recommend everyone flashes to Telus 1.04.05V Radio, and simply avoid roaming. I don't know which is the most [battery] stable Radio for GSM.
#1. You need your SPC. BAFMSL is the quickest way.
Link: http://code.baf.cc/mslgrab/BAFMSL.cab
#2. After getting your SPC, click (from within the program) on EPST. and click 'Edit'

#3. Click 'View Info' then 'NAM Settings'.
#4. Go down to ACCOLC in this windows and edit it to be 7 or 8.
#5. Click 'View Info' again, then 'Modem Settings'
#6. Edit your Slot Cycle Index (SCI) to 1. You're Preferred Service System should be [Carrier Name] Only. I.E., I use Sprint, so mine says 'Sprint Only'. Finally make sure that 'HDR Hybrid Preferred' is enabled.
#6.b While you are already here, click 'View Info', then 'Data Parameters', and make sure that your Rev.A is ENABLED!!!
#7. Click OK at the top right corner and click OK again. You MUST let it Soft Reset... Or else!:twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted: :-p

It's a great tip & there's no harm in trying this, but I can tell you this did absolutely nothing for me.

Calls will go to voicemail if there's an active data session, but texts should still come in.

Re: Late text messages, permanet fix?

well, I called sprint
Went through the normal troubleshooting, even though I told them that I did the power down many times, and it just happened to work right then, then of course a few minutes later after getting off the phone it stopped working again, after I made a statement, she suggested she will call back in a hour, and never did. o well
it seems to be working for a good hour now :/

I used the thing the guy above posted, didn't help much at the time, still did it

should I be free to install SMS-MMS again?
