Broken Keyboard! Wait fot TP2?
 

Okay my keyboard went out after only having the phone for two months. I never had this problem with my mogul, but I know it has something to do with the ribbons and the heat. Anyways I asked a Sprint representive that if I wait for the TP2 and then came in with my hardware problem I might get a cheaper price. So my question is should I get a new TP cause I hate typing on the screen or wait for the TP2 and go in with my hardware problem?

might be waiting a few months for sprint to have it..

hate to put it like this but: trade it in now, im sure your new TP will have issues if your looking to upgrade for a discount later...

get one via advanced exchange and maybe by the time they keyboard goes out AGAIN the tp2 will be out and then you can complain and they will give you a tp2......doubtful but you can hope right?

after the Mogul to Touch Pro frenzy, im sure Asurion and AE, wont be giving TP2 at a discount for replacements...

the only reasons we got away with that is 1) mogul went EOL very shorty after 2) we had the argument about "Comparable Features" if they didnt have our handset.. they were offering Diamonds left and right for upgrades.. but no Keyboard, and No SD slot, made it not very "comparable" to me LOL and 3) the mogul was so cosmetically defective(white spots, etc), i dont think carriers really thought it out.. they shouldve just told us no and to go somewhere else if we wanted...

I really dont see them replacing TPs with TP2s, like they did for Touch to Diamond and Mogul to Diamond/TP

Your insurance policy is good for a replacement on your current phone...... if you could "wait" and swap it out for a TP2 my TP would be taking a dunk in the pool with me shortly.

If you have insurance on your phone then just take if to a repair store. They will replace it for you free in the store. The TP2 for sprint wont be out for sometime. You might have a long wait for the TP2 with a broken keyboard.

My keyboard just went out yesterday, before it was intermittent. I took it to the sprint store thinking it was a loose connection, but they had to replace the keyboard works great now.

If you have they have a replacement keyboard or can harvest from one going to the warehouse it should be within an hour depending if they have it and or the wait time, ESRP Service and repair will cover it.. just hope they have it or call in the nearest Service Center before you go, if they dont have it they will request a replacement 3-5 business days or go to self service site if you want to wait without having to drive to a store

I honestly don't know if I would want a TP2. I love my keyboard and I miss the mogul's hardkeys as it is.

But In a year, maybe two, when TPs are no longer in stock, do you guys think we'll be able to take out a TEP claim and get a TP2? That's how I came from a mogul to this wonderful device :mrgreen: *caresses his tp*

So they replaced the keyboard on the current phone? My keyboard has recently gone to crap recently as well.

after messing around with a tp2, believe me, youll want to have the keyboard from the tp2.....if only telus had service where i live...\\:D/

Haha okay thanks guy! I'm going to the service center tomorrow to see whats up. One last thing would be should I flash back to current ROM and lock. I know I need to do this if they are going to replace the whole the thing, but is it necessary if they are just switching out the keyboard? Like will they for sure give me hassle?

We all know it will be done eventually the question is when will they run out of TP's to replace ours with??

Hopefully we can just use the online claim form like many of us (me included) did to get a hassel free upgrade from mogul to TP

Well my phone keyboard went dead too and I took it for a replacement and I got a refurb with manufacture date of 21 Mar 2009. So far the phone seems to be running smooth and it looks like on this refurb the keyboard was replaces because it has te new feel to it. Currently I'm running on Mighty ROM 6 the 7/18 ed. Also on this phone the D-Pad seems to be almost flush. The screen it has a different feel to it. My other TP was manufacture on January 09 and it has a different feel to it. However if they TP2 comes out I'm pretty sure that it will still have some wrinkles to iron as when the TP came out. I hope this helps and I think you should get the replacement.

Yeah I went in, they are sending me a brand new phone on Wednesday!
They didn't have an in because the EOL is coming up!

Thought I'd follow up on this one. Sprint replaced my TP with a refurb, which works ok...for now. I also noticed there were no TPs or Diamonds on display.
