In Trouble!!!....help

I just woke up to my daughter dunking my (,,,,mmmmm?) 3 month old htc touch pro in a huge glass of water. It is steady vibrating and the torchlight is stuck on. I can not do anything with it. I tried the reset and the power off. Nothing. black screen. First off? do you think the phone is ruined or if it dries will it be ok. I always heard if electronics gets wet, just keep it off, let it dry, and it will be ok. I had past expierience with my old phone being off ahead of time and it was fine but this time it was on before hand. Second, I have it unlocked and r3born flashed on it. do you think they will ask for it back or should i just say i lost it if I need a new one. or do you think the water wiped out the drive in it so they wouldnt even be able to tell. ONe last thing? Since I have insurance on it, If I get a new one can I change the one that I want or do I have to get the same one. I would like to try a diff one. Sorry guys but it was either write this or my daughter would be getting thrown around. Thank you for your help

im gonna say its a lost cause.. you can try to dry it out and see what happens..

your battery and the back of your handset have water strips on them so Techs can see if theres been water damage... even if it works the next time you take it in for service, their gonna notice those stickers are a diifferent color and will automatically assume your issue has to deal with previous water damage... just use your insurance now, youll have to eventually anyways.. a tech wont service your phone if it has had water damage, theyll make you get another

Throwing your daughter around!?!

Good thing PPCGeeks saved the day. Maybe that should be the new subtitle instead of PPCGeeks: Pocket PC Information Station it should be...

PPCGeeks: Keeping your loved ones safe after they trash your phone

But as it was already said...with water damage you are SOL

The best thing you can do is take out the battery and leave the battery and cover off. Blow dry as much of it as you can, then stick the 3 pieces into a bag of rice. This got my old razr working after about 2 weeks, after it spent 30 minutes submerged.
Good luck,

Matt

u can say u lost it technically.... but u really should send it back so they can recondition the phone so someone else can use it one day...

you cant get in trouble for flahing a rom, technically itd be covered under your insurance anyways

Yes you have to get the same phone through insurance whether instore replacement or asurion. You can try drying it out and taking it in for service and see what they do. Just because the liquid indicators show that the phone has come into contact with liquid does not mean they automatically flag the phone as water damage. I used to work for Sprint and the technicians are supposed to open the phone up and examine it even when these indicators have been tripped. I have had the indicators change on my phone just by being in my pocket on a hot summer day.

Calling Child Protective Services right now!!!...lol

There used to be little markers somewhere on the phone to tell if you dropped it in water or not. I think water damage is still covered, and they give you the EXACT model phone you had unless it is out of production... Good Luck!

Yep, either way, you are going to HAVE to use insurance (unless you buy one off Craigslist or eBay) and pay $100. So best bet is say its lost and keep it. Maybe you can get it dry and your daughter can have it as her "play phone" that way she won't have to use your good one. Or you can just use the bad phone for spare parts....
