Say Cheese! Homemade Dock :)

I made a dock last night out of wadded up sheet metal, was functional, but UGLY. I went hunting around my apartment for something to carve up and found an OLD webcam. So old in fact that it had a parallel interface and a PS/2 splitter for power! It will make a great dock. Out came the Dremel and a few screws and it was done:

These pictures were taken with my VZW TP and we know how hard it is to take a clear picture when you've gotta hold the phone still for like 10 seconds...
Also don't know how to scale image in BB code:

Oh yeah, it pitches up and down, guess they did not have the ability to swivel their webcams in the stone ages!

Very nice! :headbang: Great mod! Now all ya have to do is have it set up to when you dock your TP, you can view the webcam image on your TP screen. haha.

I would add something to it so the usb is not the only thing holding it up, that plug is not known to be very durable, like the idea tho!

I was concerned about this so I made the usb plug as short as possible. I could add something along the back for the phone to lean on?

I never would have thought of making my own dock. Great idea. I would probably make mine out of wood and shape it to really hold up the phone at an angle that lets me see it while at my desk. If I ever get around to doing it, I'll post pictures, but KUDOS on the creativity.

thanks. I would like to make a better dock one day from scratch with wood probably also. I am very concerned about the health of my USB port, I will see if I can add something to it that can support the device more.

yes and a little something on the sides too. it could be semi flexable, and a touch of JB Weld would garantee they will not fall off.

yes, I am fortunate to have these resources...at work. Believe me if I had to do it with a dremel and soldering iron it wouldn't look near as good as yours. Nice job! =D>
