Newbie asking questions, and the like.

I have a Sprint HTC Touch Pro. I'm looking for a ROM that will increase speed, is stable, and isn't too heavy on TF3D modding. (Reason being, I'm not using TF3D, I'm using SPB Home.)

Any ROMs out there?

Personally I've only tried a few, and ROMs really are a personal choice where "play and see" will give you your real answer. I use MightMike's and Juicy's. Both are fast, as stable as can be expected with 'custom' ROMs (but have documented bugs / issues). I may be totally off-base on this, and I apologize to Mighty if I am, but in terms of "not too heavy on the TF3D modding", you may want to try Mike's MR6 first and see. I don't use TF3D either, and use SPB MS3. I made this comment because I recall reading a post earlier today that implied just that.

The main (I think) ROMS to try are: EnergyROM, MightyROM, Groove, Merdin, and JuicyROM. They are listed in their own threads under all the stickies in the CDMA subforum.

Each has its own layout, theme, pre-installed software, and speed. Read the first page of each ROM post and get the gist of the ROM. Look at screen captures, read other people's experiences, etc. Seach backward from the last post and read comments from people who have installed the ROM. There may be a bug or something that may or may not affect you.

You'll find that most of the mature ROMS that have been around a while are all stable and fast. It's really a matter of your preference for how you like your phone to look and feel.

A friend of mine recently tried Mighty and Energy on his phone. He said the EnergyROM worked the best... he had a few issues with the others. He could, of course, look for corrections and other people's fixes for the problems, but he's lazy and just wanted the ROM that worked out of the box.

I prefer Energy's ROM because he's really quick on releasing updates and bug fixes, etc. It has everything I need on it and I'm happy... but don't take my word for it- install all three and see for yourself.

I personally was too lazy to test and tweak a dozen different ROMs so I went with MightyMike's ROM since that seemed to be the most popular ROM. Unfortunately I can't attest to any other ROM, but quite frankly anything is better than stock and it's quite likely that you'll like all of the ROMs you flash. The differences maybe attributable to personal taste, but almost all the custom ROMs are stable and fast.
