my favorites are Silence 9 , Demolition, but for the last week or 2 I've been running Groove rom..I used his kitchen and made the rom to my preference and its been running superb for a week or 2 so far...but as you have read... roms are all trial and error as i havent tried them all..so many to try.. nor can you.. but your best bet is using some ones rom and kitchen so you can add/remove what ever you like and make it perfect for you.
As a side note grooves kitchen is the first time I ever used a kitchen and its so simple to add/remove what you want that I just don't see my self ever not using a kitchen again..and think all ppl should include such a simple kitchen with there rom.

allow me to modify my list with a little detail after reading your last post, these are roms i would recommend

juicy 8, wm6.5 very up to date and clean professional looking rom, not much multimedia built in but im sure youtube and opera are built in a quick

psyki 3, wm6.1 very smooth eye candy filled rom (my personal favorite), very stable, odd but great memory management, good battery life

energy rom, wm6.5 very eye candy filled, smooth customized rom, a couple versions to choose from depending what home shell u prefer and which dialer u want

dcd rom, wm6.5 very clean basic rom, has no shell installed so you'll have to install one or use titanium (i cant recall if its included), very fast but again very basic

those are my top 4, try them out, id like to hear which you like the best, #2 and #3 are loaded with stuff, #3 more so but im sticking with psyki rom cuz its been real stable the past 2 months

this helps me too! ..

although ive been trying roms its very dificult to follow what is going on at times. I suck at identifying which build is which and what does it do when it comes to Windows Mobile. I have tried Silence, mighty, juggs and havent really found that i do enjoy the most. Id say silence was my favorite up until now.

I too am looking for a rom that is VERY stable that has minimal lag. I dont need to run TouchFlow3D, nor windows 6.5(6.1 is good for me) i just need to access text messages and make calls when i need to. I hate having to have a phone who's hardware capability is not enough for the software its running. Why run TouchFlow3D when you get lag at times when selecting stuff and it makes it all slow.. why sacrafice stability/smoothness to see something "fancy"? Yes, i want to run program such as internet explorer, google maps or microsoft live messenger but that shouldnt be a problem as they will run when i need them to.

Featips is just asking a question. I understand that people will be "do a search!" but when someone replies with .. do a search for "DCD" well new people wouldnt know to even search for DCD or even know what that means. You gotta keep in mind that although you want to keep the forum clean at times forum regulars get too comfortable speaking and using their own lingo and forget that new members dont know what they are talking about. Yes we should eventually learn what certain terms mean but we have to filter and try to figure out as we go.

Re: Need a fast, reliable and not necessarily fancy ROM

In last 24 hours, I already learned a lots of 'jargon' in this forum, such as DCD (the fisrt time I saw DCD is someone asked me to search this, but I don't know what it is.......hehe)

As a newcomer, I have another question about 'jargon'. I often see people mention 'kitchen'. What's the relation of kitchen to ROM? Is it a collection of plugins/mods for a ROM?

For example, when I download Juicy 8 ROM, there is also a 'Juicy 7 Kitchen' link together. I am confused, are they separate (v8 and v7), or V7 kitchen can be used as a supplement to V8 ROM?

Sorry for this kind of newbie's question.

Kitchen - You make your own PERSONALIZED ROM, choose your own settings/programs

ROM - Whoever the "chef" is chooses what you install on your phone, whatever programs/settings they enter from their kitchen, you install on your phone

So, for kitchen, we have to search internet to find some program cabs to install? Or, the kitchen version provide a compact clean ROM, shipped with some non-installed program cabs?

Still take that Juicy ROM v8 and Juicy Kitchen v7. I shall download both and use the latter to make modifications?

Re: Need a fast, reliable and not necessarily fancy ROM

Just to give my view on the topic.

I have been using Copper for quite some time on my Touch Pro with almost 0 issues. I did miss some of the stock HTC apps (like the dialer) and I wanted to try out TouchFlo3D2 so this is why I was looking for another Rom.

I installed DCD's rom and it wasn't bad... but he only had included a cab for TouchFlo3D.

I then proceeded to Download Juicy's Standard rom and so far I am very impressed. I like the style and the preloaded features. Speed is great even with TouchFlo3D2 enabled.

Re: Need a fast, reliable and not necessarily fancy ROM

a kitchen usually include the base rom of that chefs plus a few ingredients (applications), u pick and choose what u want before making the rom, so for example if open a kitchen (on ur pc) u may have the option of cooking in opera 9.5 or opera 9.7, u can pick maybe mobile shell 3 or rhodium or titanium, u can choose a certain theme, choose not to cook in office mobile, add solitaire but not teeter and so on, and as u progress with understanding kitchen u can add your own oems (applications that didnt come with the kitchen but u would like to cook in so u dont have to reinstall them everytime u re-flash)

if u look in the juicy thread he dates his releases in the filename, juicy 8 is gonna have the latest stuff to use, but the drawback of that is some of the stuff is so new it may have bugs that we have yet to find, and the kitchen is a good place to start to understand what its all about, try both if u want, or for now just let the cooks do all the work and only install the roms, then u can install ur own cabs afterwards if theres something missing

if you want to have a go at a fast stable 6.1 here is my latest build that i have been using for a while now...http://www.lilrico.com/Y4J/Y4J10.rar i still havent perfected my 6.5 rom yet so 6.1 is very suited.
