Who else hates the Touch Pro 2's keyboard??
 

I was wondering if anyone is kinda PO'd about the TP2 having less keys then the TP has. I mean yeah it will be *easier* to use but I've never found the TP's keyboard hard to use at all and it has way more functionality then the new one does. Isn't the beauty of having a Windows Mobile phone is functionality?? I wish they kept the same keyboard instead of the same processor and stuff, which actually NEEDS the improvement haha. Who's with me?? (and no I haven't tried it myself yet, but I imagine it's more like a sidekick/Rant/Rumor etc.)

I'm with you!

The Touch Pro 2 is a pure let down. I guess HTC will milk those willing to shell out anything to them before the WinMo 7 devices. I'm skipping until WinMo 7 devices hit.

Screwed KB, same hardware, no flash, no d-pad... All I can really grab at are slightly larger screen & gsm roaming... Neither worth an upgrade for me.

yea, try using the phone on a dusty road, touchflo is not compatible..

+1 for that post I'm with you on that. I mean seriously you lose a "few" keys but you get a better more spaced out keyboard. Like the tp keyboard but keys so cramped harder to type but that's just for me

the entire phone looks infinitely better. the buttons don't appear to have the same "about to fall off" feel, and the dpad on the tp is such a letdown that getting rid of it was the only logical step, i wish my phone didn't have it in the first place because its virtually useless. up and down aren't bad, but left are right result in either hanging up (which closes whatever program you're using, or hitting the back button, hitting home, or worse yet, calling somebody. its the worst design i've ever seen for anything. my dell axim x30 had an amazing dpad because it worked perfectly. the tilt's dpad is great also. they somehow managed to mess up a dpad, i don't know who approved its design, but the entire assembly is a mess.

i'll be getting a tp2 when it comes to sprint merely to get rid of the current hardware quirks of my tp. i'd be willing to deal with a new set of problems in a heart beat at this point. my volume buttons, and power button don't click anymore, the volume buttons get stuck in the up or down position that can only be corrected by prying them up with a nail file. this phone is the most amazingly unfunctional device i've ever seen for the money.

Yeah the phone looks better, but do you really want to spend a couple hundred dollars to get something that looks better?
I think its a waste of money, I too will be waiting for the WinMo7 devices, then I'll probably wait a while longer to see what feedback those devices get!
I LOVE my TP. No issues whatsoever with it! As long as its running, I don't see why I would leave it at all until it breaks from usage... peace my brothers

umm have any of you even held or used a TP2??? im gonna guess its a no, so how does anyone really know?

it looks better.. bigger keys, offset keys(like a real keyboard is).. im sure itll be easier to type.. they can take off the whole row of top numbers imho... half the time i still hit "
fn" then hit a number anyways so i personally wouldnt mind having to do this again..

i think itll be better...especially for people who dont have the tiny hands that the original TP though we all had lol

+1 here too. I haven't used it yet either but I just remember going from a 6800 to the TP and finding the keyboard cramped in comparision. I'm looking forward to trying it, but that's only my opinion. Each to their own, and everyone will always have a different need or preference to the next guy. I will end on this note....I find I use the slide out kbd less on the TP than I did on the 6800 for small amounts of typing, and I can only believe that's because the TP keyboard is hit and miss with the cramped non-offset layout.

Believe it or not I was cleaning up my bedside cabinet yesterday (sad but true) and found my 6800. Opened her up and realized what I was missing. Other than the screen resolution and the memory issues, I'd switch back to it in a heart beat! The keyboard, plus the reliable d-pad, and the extra hard keys on the front were the things I really missed when I upgraded to a TP. C'est la vie!

I think the TP2 keyboard is way better seeing one of my fingers covers >5 keys on the current TP pretty much. DPAD does suck, it's replaced by a dedicated slider dealio. I just wish the TP2 was capacitive touch. I don't think it is at least. The lack of architecture upgrade is a bummer though. If I could get one CHEAP i would, but my TP1 will have to last for now. (hopefully I can fix the screen, just dropped it today too)

Sorry, but I had to laugh at some of these. Especially the comment about how the keyboard "looks" better. Because thats what really matters for a keyboard...how it looks. The only thing that looks matter on are chicks, cars and my *** and not necessarily in that order. Don't flame me, I know that you meant that the keyboard looked like it would be better (for typing on), not just look asthetically better...it just made me laugh. The OP made a good point. With the bigger screen for on-screen typing to handle normal stuff, they could afford to put a more complete/functional keyboard on the device instead of giving me a Rant/Rumor/*enter cheap *** LG/Samsung/etc POS Qwerty device here* keyboard. As mentioned before, missing the top row of numbers is a no go, hated using the Fn keys on the 6700, 6800 etc and will hate it on the TP2. No flash, gimped keyboard, and the only plusses are a bigger screen? I think I will wait until the TP3...or 4. Going back to the TP2 keyboard, I question the helpfulness of it being offset. PC keyboards are offset for ergonomics since you are using, in most cases, both hands and most if not all your fingers. Since I doubt any of you use any more than your thumbs on both hands I do not see the benefit from an offset. However, since the thumb is generally the biggest "finger" on the hand that does make the argument that bigger keys = easier typing, no dispute there. +1 to the OPs post.

I must say, I love my Touch Pro keyboard. I went from my mogul to this one, and I feel the best addition that they made was the Ctrl key. I'm glad they'll be keeping it on the TP2, but I can't really see spending another $400-500 on a newer version of my phone that has a lil bigger screen, bigger speakerphone, and a zoom bar at the bottom of the screen. Also, I enjoy the liberal use of my "tab" key on my pro as well, which is not pictured on the TP2. Plus the closeness of all the keys makes it easier for me personally to text one handed.

I liked the keyboard of my Mogul better than the TP. The TP is just a little cramped. I've gotten use to it, but i was much more comfortable holding that Mogul. I had no issue with hitting that FN key to get to my numbers. Really don't need a seperate row for numbers on my TP. It's not like I'm typing numbers most of the time.

Someone mentioned if the Mogul had a better resolution and more memory they would get back on it. Well I probably would too.

Hey my friend not everything that looks better so she's a pretty woman but might have a shi*** attitude so is her looks worth it now? Ummm no I have USED tons of phones before and I myself perfer spaced out keys cause I pump out a lot of texts/emails. So I have a feeling a feeling the tp2 keyboard will be better for me. But hey it might not be won't know til I buy it. So next time you post blindly on another person opinion just remember its an opinion you have yours everyone else have they own. Maybe it's not a big deal to some of you guys, but not having a Tab key is a real dealbreaker for me. You don't know how good that key is until you lose it (I went from Sprint TP to VZW TP)

The TP2 looks good but I got my sights set on the Omnia Pro. If its stats match the Omnia then the added hard keyboard, I will drop HTC and Sprint and never look back.

This was never the "my opinion is better than yours" that you made it out to be. I don't like the color scheme that I've seen in pics and I have my fingers crossed that it turns out to be different. I do like the new offset and the larger keys of course as I text quite a bit. I am concerned with the loss of the TAB and CTRL keys because I use them regularly. I was worried about the loss of the D-pad too and I have already started trying to practice not using it or the other buttons...I know I am not going to be able to resist the power of the dark side when it comes out. I survived losing all the buttons on my Mogul, I guess I will manage on this one too. :)
