Re: Why hasn't there been an official update?
All we can do is wait and see. Sprint is usually very bullish about updates so we will probably see a WM 6.5 update. I think that is the main reason our update is "late", but only time will prove or disprove that theory.
It also depends on how Sprint plans to market the Touch Pro and the Touch Pro 2. I think Sprint knows that the majority of Touch Pro users won't be upgrading to the Touch Pro 2. Most will still be locked in a contract and even more will know that the raw specs are the same and the changes become very superficial and will vary by user. Instead they can, and might, offer the Touch Pro 2 alongside the Touch Pro. With the Touch Pro 2 being focused primarily as a world roaming phone while the Touch Pro is the better domestic phone. They might also drop a TP 6.5 update even if they drop the TP when they release the TP2. Primarily because they know, as I mentioned earlier, that the majority of users won't be upgrade eligible and they want a leg up over their competitors. If they launch a TP WM6.5 update first (and possibly only) that will give them a significant market advantage over their competitors. It would be a feature in their cap to show Sprint always releases updates for their smartphones and shows they care about their higher end device customers. A feather Sprint could really use right now. I believe if we do see WM 6.5 on the Touch Pro (and I'm talking officially, not via cooked roms) it will come from Sprint first and possibly only. Quote:
