Touch Pro Keyboard Not Working...

I bought an Alltel Touch Pro approximately 1 month ago. I've used it extensively since then and love it, but the sliding keyboard stopped working approximately a week ago. When I slide the keyboard out, it lights up, but none of the keys work. After a short while, the keys dim and pressing on them doesn't cause them to re-light.

I've flashed the stock rom and relocked it--done a couple of hard resets--no dice.

Normally I would just take it into the Alltel store and get it replaced, but--when I was installing a Zagg Invisible Shield, I goofed and set the phone down sans back cover into a drop of water. About 1/4 of the water indicator sticker is pink, the rest is white with red cross-hatch. The lady at the Alltel store said I was basically out of luck and instructed me to contact HTC and let them decide if they'll cover it under warranty (which she didn't think they would).

If HTC decides they won't repair it under warranty, does anyone have some advice on what routes I can take? Using the on-screen keyboard for typing out text message is a joke...

yea thats what i do lol.. turn the screen off and then roll my fingers around on the keys really hard. turn the screen back on and see if it works. usually it does.

my luck with electronics is pretty bad, so im too afraid to just take it apart and reconnect / tape down the keyboard connectors..

open the phone yourself and repair it?
otherwise I would take the water sticker off and go to another alltel store and not even tell them about the water.
tell them you need a new NIB replacement, New in box replacement, for you htc touch pro. It says so in the manufacturing warranty that you get a NIB replacement. The keyboard stopped working, it's a known problem.
If they call their tech department or HTC they will be told the same thing.

worked for me and they didnt even looking at the phone or look at my account before saying okay that they can replace it.

I don't wanna void the warranty.
that's why I don't bother with doing that.

I have gone trough a bunch of phones - last phone I brought in they actually fixed it instead of getting me a new one. It seems to still be working - It's "normal" for me for the keyboard to stop working

really now? i just typed this using my sip T9 kb. so much for sucking i guess. i love the fact that there is a T9 on this phone. i hate qwerty its too slow for typing.

But i also seem to be the only one who's never had a kb failure. I don't know what everyone else's issue is with having them break.

My keyboard died today just because it decided it was the right thing to do. Never been dropped, never been wet, stock rom.

This is my 2nd tp in 3 months.

I had just installed the invisible shield.

The repair centers do not want to repair it they only want to replace it under the warranty. I do not want a replacement. I just this phone fixed so I can keep my shield and my digital media or I want the diamond even though I will lose my storage card which is gonna suck. I don't want to have to go through replacing this thing every couple of months.
