Recommended Phone Backup Utility?

Hey guys,

What tool(s) do you use to backup your data before doing a fresh install?

I'm looking for something that will backup:

*Contacts
*Mail
*Text Messages
*Maybe Photos
*Certain Preferences

Thanks.

Have you tried PIMBackup (free), Resco Backup, or SPB Backup?

I use PIMBackup.

I'd recommend dashwire for the first 4, +1 pim backup for certain preferences.

I prefer PimBackup but the morei use it the less i prefer it. The thing i dont like is EVERYTIME you load the app for the FIRST time you have to tell it what files to back up and back them up. Is there anyway to have it save what files you want backed up so all you have to do is load the app for the firs time and load this file? Dont tell me to check "saved backed up items" this is NOT what i mean.

not to many people mentioning SPB Backup, Ive been using it for years, cant complain

Re: Recommended Phone Backup Utility?

PIM backup is technically "free", but it is really donation-ware. If you use it, you should give the guy something for his time... Just like S2U2, if you use this stuff, give the folks their dues...

Nothing is "free" in this world.. Everything has a cost associated with it.. Even if it just the time of the author that wrote it...

Re: Recommended Phone Backup Utility?

SPB backup didn't fully restore the FIRST time I used it. I didn't bother giving it another try. YMMV, I've heard/seen A LOT of good about SPB Backup so don't write it off til YOU try it. I use Sprite Backup AND PIMbackup on a regular basis and I've NEVER had any issues. Give them a try and see what fits your needs best. =D

I have had SPB restores fail myself & have NEVER had a Sprite restore fail.

I still use SPB as I like some of its features, but every single time make a BU with it I also make a Sprite BU at the same time.........

i have used sprite and PIM and both are good but sprite takes forever so i usually use just PIM but i do keep a spare backup using sprite, just in case.

See now I have info in my phone that is WAY too confidential to chance posting on a public server when it's just as easy & totally safe to simply back it up yourself.............(but that's just me)

I love PIMBackup. It's automated scheduled back up works extremely well. I just keep copying the backup files from my pocket PC to my server at home. I have a long running back up archive that way. :)

Re: Recommended Phone Backup Utility?

i used pimbackup but i just started to back up the files pim.vol and opera6.adr and just either use UC or totalcommander to add them when i flash.

Re: Recommended Phone Backup Utility?

could there be a way to have 2 versions of pimbackup running? i want 2 seperate files created. one for my contacts and appointments and another for my custom files. i wish this app would get updated with more features. i really like this app but i think i need to find something better to fit my needs.
