how well does the TP handle an 8gb card?
 

Hey guys, Just ordered my TP yesterday, and I am selling my old xv6800 and letting my 4gb card go with it.

So I am about to get another card, and just wondering how well the TP does with an 8gb card. I already have a 1gb card I use for flashing, but I would like an 8 giger for music and stuff.

Whats the max capacity card a TP can handle effectively?

confirm 8GB working wthout a glitch, am aware users are using 16 GB w/o prob....so update your phone profile, welcome and good move man..32GB isnt out yet...

Max is 16 I think because there isn't a 32 available yet. 8GB works perfectly in my Pro.

I found a sandisk over ay buy.com for 13 bucks shipped with the microSD adapter. I am also ordering a few more items from them. Hopefully my card will be here about the same time as my TP... Looking forward to the awesomeness of the TP!

I've had a 16gig since I got it when It came out:mrgreen: It can be a bit slow going through a single directory of a thousand or so WMA files, but I don't think it is the card/device's fault. All the other directories work fine.

Boo,
One important factor to keep an eye on is the Class of the card which determines the speed of transfer, go with class 6, hogher the class higher the speed.

Agreed.. get class 6 or better!

Amazon is where i bought my 8gb and 16gb cards, cheap quick and easy... ;)

I can confirm my Sandisk Class 4 8GB card working perfectly on my TP.

However, I did have to reformat it recently because I kept getting IO device errors when writing to it. I ran another test to verify capacity and it's been working flawlessly since!

WOW! didnt realize that! Good thing I havent processed my order, that sandisk was a class 2... LOL.

In addition to what HB said, the speed per class is as follows:

Class 2 = 2MB/s
Class 4 = 4MB/s
Class 6 = 6MB/s
an so on

You can use up to a 32gig, but as said before it is not available unless you order online.

I had the sandisk 16gb class 2 1st day amazon had it and it reads/writes pretty fast umm movies 700mb and more takes 5 to 8 mins to copy my music folder which is 1.5gb took 11 to 15mins just to give you an idea how fast it can be even on class 2

my wife and my tp handles 8gb great. make sure to get a class 6 or higher so its fast. and theoretically the tp can support over 200gb microsd card but they just havent been invented yet, pretty 16 is the biggest right now. ive had good luck buying my class 6 8gb cards with bonuses from meritline.com

I use 16gb mobile ultra in my TP, work just perfect.

I got a Kingston 8GB class 4 off of Tiger Direct for $25 with a SD adapter. It looks like getting them cheaper is fairly easy, I was ordering other things at the time and just getting ready to get my phone so it was convenient. Anyway, works fine and had no problems!

I have used a Sandisk 16 gig from the day they became available & they work, but Sandisk's quality has gone WAY down.

I just got my 2nd warranty replacement of a defective 16 gig SD card, make sure you back your stuff up...........
