so im tired of the slow bandwidth on the tp... here my idea
i remember a few days back i was thinking if I'd be able to flash the radio of another CDMA device to my TP. My first thought was from the Rose, cuz its so close (visually) to the TP.... and incidently i ran across a thread on XDA that someone had tried it and bricked the deivce... My question is what if we were to hex sign a Mogul radio for the Raphael? Seeing as how a mogul is in the ssme model series (6800) as the TP (6850)... As opposed to the Rose which is model s740... I would try but Im out of town till tomorrow night...
Maybe it's not just the diamond we can share radios with? |
Re: so im tired of the slow bandwidth on the tp... here my idea
Far as I know there are only a few radius that can be flashed onto a TP. The list includes: Diamond! lol I know people have tried to hack up other phone radios for the TP but most either get a hard brick or a semi-brick.

Thats from Opera... they cache the page ... try IE and you'll come back to reality.

Re: so im tired of the slow bandwidth on the tp... here my idea
lol really? I didn't think a bandwidth test would let itself be cached... that just doesn't make sense!

Re: so im tired of the slow bandwidth on the tp... here my idea
I was able to download off NNTP at 125-130KB in the middle of the Cajon Pass in California. That's pretty fast I thought, considering the remote/hilly nature of the area.

No Wi-Fi involved... it's off.

Re: so im tired of the slow bandwidth on the tp... here my idea
The thing that gets me... Is that GSM Raphael can use Radios from Blackstone, Quarts, Omnia, and Diamond... So theres gotta be something else we can use...

The download test is a result of caching, WiFi connection, or an ActiveSync connection. BTW your ping alone would've been greater than the 0.15sec it supposedly took to download the 250kb file. Adi |

I'm not arguing against you guys - it may be cached.
I just tested via IE on DSLReports.com and got 1102 kbps. |
Re: so im tired of the slow bandwidth on the tp... here my idea
So theres nothing better than a 1.11 radio that can be used for a Sprint CDMA Touch pro?? Too bad we cant use the 1.12, 1.14 and theres even a 1.15 radio out for the diamond..

Here is a glimpse at what I have to deal with as a USCC customer.

In real life my touch is 2x times faster download speed then touch pro. :protest:

On another note, these *radios* are not radios... The files we flash are different firmware versions for our cellular radio built into the device. So I really think that within the FW itself is where the provider caps the speed. There has to be a way to get Vogue Radio files on the TP... |
Re: so im tired of the slow bandwidth on the tp... here my idea
I've spent some time today review the latest Sprint radio shipped with the TP... (1.11.0). I found in it a few devices' names :
DIAMOND_C RAPHAEL_C NEON_C PANTHER_C TOPAZ_C HERMANN_C VICTOR_C this means that the Diam.2 (topaz) is definately comin to sprint i guess, Victor and Diamond are one and the same... Victor is codename for the Canada (telus/bell?) diamond. Hermann and Raphael thats us (if our name is in the Diamond Radio ROM, and we can use eachothers' FW, perhaps we can share Radios with The CDMA Treo Pro (HTC Panther) |

bump...
cmon guys, out of all these ppl in here... i cant be the only one interested about this... bump bump super king kamehameha BUMP! dont ask..idk... just trying to bump it up |
Re: so im tired of the slow bandwidth on the tp... here my idea
Cummon guys... The reason your b/w is sucking is because the PalmPre was just released. The same thing happened to me w/ the Mogul last spring when Sprint released the Instinct: Data dropped from 1800kbps to around 800kbps( and that was entirely stock).
Everybody is using data cause they just got a new fone. I think all you can do is tweak your connection and tower priority etc. At least yur not on AT&T!! btw - Opera uses a PROXY SERVER and sends everything compressed... always has. |

Not very slow in my oppinion. Thats with internet explorer not opera. |
Re: so im tired of the slow bandwidth on the tp... here my idea
I'm consistently pulling 1.5Mbps to 2.5Mbps in the Indianapolis area using SsS ROM and radio 1.11.00. I downloaded the latest SsS Beta ROM to my SD card while driving yesterday and the 114Mb download took 21 minutes from Rapidshare. Check my sig line for my best result using IE.

Re: so im tired of the slow bandwidth on the tp... here my idea
I'm using Sprint 1.11 Radio. Went to mobilespeedtest.com ran a 3MB test and got 1.23Mbps transferred in 19.572 seconds. I think that’s pretty good from the phone. I think a lot has to do with where you are located. Now I'm not a Sprint RF engineer or anything but isn't there PRL updates? From what I understood PRL stands for Preferred Roaming List. It tells the phone the location of the towers. Perhaps updating the PRL on your phone my help improve speeds?

Re: so im tired of the slow bandwidth on the tp... here my idea
That is the problem guys... Our Ev-DO connections are made for 3.2Mbps connections... We are crippled on the touch pro...
|
Re: so im tired of the slow bandwidth on the tp... here my idea
Moved to the general Touch Pro Forum.
