Re: My list of issues -- how Touch Pro should be improved

In fact, I truly believe that Windows Mobile is really only usable if you dig in there add programs and hack/tweak the hell out of it. The additions of TD3D and other add ons still cover an antiquated yet powerful operating system. Unfortunately for neophytes, the only way to really get the best out of the phone is to break the seal. If you are really nervous about flashing, just look around and you can find some good programs that would have solved some of the problems you mentioned. You can use those while you research how to safely upgrade your ROM. And if you really still don't want to do even that, then you may want to look at another operating system. nb |

I am afraid I don't have a choice in the matter of OS.... I am stuck with it.

Re: My list of issues -- how Touch Pro should be improved
Hm, I don't know, reading all the upgrade horror stories here is not exactly inspiring.
I kind of need another Touch Pro for testing purposes, make changes on it and if all works, make them on the active one. |
Re: My list of issues -- how Touch Pro should be improved
etc- It is definitely an irrational fear. When I got my diamond(1st ppc) I had not made a single call before i flashed to one of Mike's ROMs. I had been reading posts on this site for a few weeks before I bought it and had garnered enough knowledge to never have any issues flashing...
If you are careful and read before you act you can do no wrong...go for it. |
Re: My list of issues -- how Touch Pro should be improved
IMO the biggest flaw is the heat issue. The TP can do so much but the battery life is awful and it can't run off the charger when it overheats.
That's a flaw that has changed the way I use this device. I can't stream radio all day long at work because after a few hours the battery will be dead and the phone won't run off the charger even if I take out the battery. |
Re: My list of issues -- how Touch Pro should be improved
It is a PHONE!!!!! If your serious about all that, Buy a netbook with a little sprint evdo modem and Skype with it. 6000 mah battery are you crazy? Rewrite the OS? HTC doesn`t write the OS and they`ve done a damn good job of skinning it with touch flo. If don`t know how to use a smart phone get a tard phone. And take care of your phone, grab a screen protector. It`s a $300 piece of hardware, treat it as such.

Umm use a custom ROM. Install a different radio. Try installing different softwares. There aren't that man horror stories on this site. Most people here have a custom rom on their phone.
Stylus falling out? That's just yours. Mine has been fine for 7 months. Touch screen...no problems here. Only thing I agree with is the overall build and how loud the speaker is. The battery is also somewhat of an issue, but I keep a charger at work and in my car. |
Re: My list of issues -- how Touch Pro should be improved
While I agree that the build quality and battery are not sufficient, I have and continue to be impressed with my TP. I agree that the build quality really sucks (especially compared to Samsung) but after flashing a custom ROM and updating the radio, this phone is awesome.
I had to send it in for the keyboard repair last week, and went back to my old Sammie i760... I miss the TP every day. I use it so much my wife calls it my girlfriend, has given it a name. I don't know why, but she calls it "Mona." |
