POS Keyboard doesn't work zomg. How to return for warranty?
 

I'm having the cursed keyboard issue with the HTC Touch Pro. I tried doing the push down on the space bar thing really hard to reconnect the loose wire and that worked good for a week, but now the problem is back but 2x worse.

Am I able to call up HTC directly to get a warranty replacement? This was bought off Ebay as a like new item. :angry7:

Anyone found a permanent fix?

do u not have insurance?? if u have sprint, u can add it.. are you the dude from theother day that wanted to know where u buy a new one to do it yourself cuz your flashed to metro??

doesnt matter if it comes off ebay, if its a branded device on it right network theyll insure you.. you can contact HTC, but theyll tell u to send it in, you pay postage, itll be 3 weeks till u get the phone back, and theresno replacement while wait..

that's what I did today.
didn't cost me a single thing.
just like 30 min of my time to go in and have her finish all the paperwork that she needed to and then activate my new phone.
Done deal.

worth a try, don't tell em it's from ebay.
just act like you got it from them.
I activated my phone myself, and got it from over the customer service 800 number.
but they didn't even question anything about where I got it or what not,
i just said that, and they said ok and started filling out the paperwork they needed to do to log it as DOA (dead on arrival)
and then gave me a new one.;)

here's the truth about the HTC TP. it will happen... again and again and again.. no matter how many units you trade in. i am getting quite familiar with the sprint tech now.. he has reattached my ribbon cables twice now, and taped it down this time. replaced my phone last time too and is now ordering me another keyboard.

Just FYI,

I sent my phone in to HTC yesterday for exactly the same reason. It is a Sprint TP that I flashed and activated as Verizon. I was lucky enough to get it added to the VzW database, so when (if) i get it back I should be able to activate it no problem. I had to use my old Samsung i760 in the interim which I am told is 2-3 weeks. I did flash it back to the stock ROM and relock it. I'm hopeful that everything comes back AOK.

For the warranty date, if you launch EPST you will be able to see the build date and other dates for the phone. Mine was Dec 2008, so I'd rather this happened now than in a couple of months.

Include letter with describing problem, how to contact me, etc.
UPS / FedEx, insure for full value and track.
Remove everything from phone, hard reset too.
Hours m-f 8:30 to 5pm EST
