Re: activesync

Quick question lilbitz, does it use only the carrier network? I went to sign up and there is a check box you have to click that says "I understand that Dashwire uses the carrier data network and have an unlimited data plan" but I don't have ANY data plan. I would like to try it (the settings feature sounds cool) but don't want to get charged for data useage. Can you set it to use only WiFi?

Stupid question, but are you "uploading" all your private information online? Where, if a hacker wanted, it can be viewed by someone other than you without your permission? If so, it sounds unsafe, any encryption, SSL, or some "protection"?

Sorry for the stupid question...

lol, any info you have on your phone can be viewed by someone at any given time unless the file itself is encrypted, but if you encrypted it wiht a program that's on the ppc, the person could use that program to un-encrypt it. so there's no point to worry about it because any decent hacker could hack into your phone the way it is!

Dude, that's scary, but encryption must work; else we would have some many hackers getting into phone with online banking enabled program. Again, I am assuming that the banks have more at stake and tested the encryption thorough enough to offer online banking that they don't have to worry about being sue for "unprotected/ hack'able" solutions.

Anyone else with a pro/con against encryption programs and their validity?

I signed up and downloaded Dashwire, but I do not see any settings anywhere that I can specify to work via Wi-Fi. Anyone here know anything? I checked their forum and couldn't get any answers, and when I tried posting got a 404, so I sent them a support request. If they get back with me I will post the solution here but I'm not holding my breath.

Update - Dashwire got in touch with me, and said that it uses whichever connection is open, if WiFi is open that is what it uses. Since I have my Data disabled (both through NoData and through Diamond Tweak) I should be ok.
