no ##3424, dmrouter.exe or epst on verizon touch pro

hi guys, got a verizon touch pro, i am unable to to enter ##778, ##778#, ##3424, ##3424, or any form of those codes with results. when i enter this on my other touch pro, it brings the respective programs up right away without even having to press send, but not on this phone. i tried following advice i saw on here about navigating to the windows directory to find the actual programs dmrouter and epst, and i found NO dmrouter program whatsoever, and epst is a non-executable, and there is also an epst2 non-executable. i need to be able to use qpst on this phone, so i have to get into the diag program at minimum.

are you on stock rom or a custom rom?

stock

I'm using the same verizon TP and have not been able to get into these menus regardless of my rom.

I'd like to use them specifically to check signal strength with different radios. I'm subscribed for a solution as well.

Like the OP I've checked the windows folder as well and find exactly the same thing. No dmrouter and epst/epst2 that are non-executable.

Re: no ##3424, dmrouter.exe or epst on verizon touch pro

did you try flashing a new rom?

cligulley 06-14-2009 11:22 PM

Re: no ##3424, dmrouter.exe or epst on verizon touch pro

no, i was going to leave the rom stock as i may be getting rid of this phone soon, so i don't want to take a negative on resale with custom rom.

Did you do the tweak to disable the dialer? If you did enable it and you should be good.

Re: no ##3424, dmrouter.exe or epst on verizon touch pro

custom dialer is almost always the issue, either that or no carrier cab installed on a custom rom

While you are in File Explorer, click on Menu and Show All Files, then you will be able to see EPST, DMRouter, FieldTrial. Have you tried ##778 Send?

Thanks, I got it to show up, but unfortunately when i click on dmrouter, it does nothing, and when i click on epst, it flashes onto the title bar, then quickly goes away with no other results. I tried ##778, but it just dials instead of bringing up epst.

i did not tweak this phone in anyway...yet. no dialer disabled.

as i have no custom rom installed, or custom dialer installed, i must assume i have the correct carrier cab installed for a verizon stock rom on a phone they sold me, so i do not believe this to be the issue.

if your not sure your going to keep the phone then why do you need to get into EPST or use QPST on it so badly?

like i said, i may sell it, but i may not. it is irrelevent if i sell it this week or next year :)

besides, aside from the length of time i own it, it's one of those puzzles that just makes me go nuts since it shouldn't be this way.

im assuming you know that screwing around with QPST or EPST can screw your phone up to the point that is wont work.

i have used both before, but that still doesn't help me access either at this point.

Re: no ##3424, dmrouter.exe or epst on verizon touch pro

there is a .cab floating around on here that will enable the ** codes to work. cant remember the thread though.

cligulley 06-18-2009 01:38 PM

Re: no ##3424, dmrouter.exe or epst on verizon touch pro

understand, but if i am physically finding the files (dmrouter, epst) in the windows directory, which i am now able to do, and when opening them nothing happens, the ##778 and ##DIAG will just direct me to a non-opening file, correct? my issue is getting those files to run, and i seem to remember someone else on some other thread or forum altogether had this issue, but i can't remember where or what the solution was.

Mylt1 06-18-2009 03:17 PM

Re: no ##3424, dmrouter.exe or epst on verizon touch pro

IDK, i know the .cab has something to do with the dialer. i'll see if i have it and will give it a try.

I had the same problem with one of the early Mighty ROM's. DMDIAG & EPST etc where in the Windows directory, but clicking on them did absolutely nothing & dialing the codes didn't work either.

I never did find a solution & I tried EVERYTHING. I finally went on to a different ROM (I'm running Merdin 6.5 at this point) & haven't had the problem since.

just checked. ran the .cab, dialled ##778 and it went right into epst. this is on a VZN touch pro.

this has to be in your registry for the ## codes to work. do you have them in yours? I just copied and pasted that from dcd carrier cab, but i don't recommend you install it, because it does a lot more then just putting this in your registry.

This cab did not do anything; when punching in any ## codes, in ANY variation (##778#, ##778, ##778 send, ##778# send), it does nothing; thanks for the try.

When i entered this information, upon entering ##778, it brought up EPST, which, like when I executed it from the Windows directory directly, just flashed up and then flashed away. Same goes when i do ##775 for updating PRL or any other. For some reason it's not executing EPST. Well, it is, it just isn't correctly running. Thanks anyway though!

Re: no ##3424, dmrouter.exe or epst on verizon touch pro

Seeing if anyone had anymore solutions; it seems to me that this must be a type of verizon lock-out or something; yet i have another touch pro sitting right here, and i am able to use all these features seamlessly; shortcuts work great and executing from windows directory does great as well.

thanks for posting it up :thumbright:
