Re: Help with Verizon Firmware

how will this work for people like me who are somewhat n00bish but have already flashed to a ROM such as MightyROM...is there any benefit to getting this new firmware?
will installing it remove MightyROM from the phone?

I am going to flash back to stock - relock and run the update and report back.

To tell you the truth, I don't think there are enough benefits to this ROM to stick with teh stock version but that is my opinion.

I will report back shortly.

You don't have to relock, I flashed it just to get the new radio, it will update it from 1.03.03 to 1.03.09.

The 09 might just be for the GPS although I'm not sure. After the Radio was updated I flashed it back to my ROM.

Re: Help with Verizon Firmware

After the flashing to MR1, I have found the radio is different as noted above by JUCY (1.03.09).

Free memory without TF3D is about 62 meg. With TF3D running it is about 50 meg.

It is OS build 20769 and is as fast (or slow however you want to look at it) as the original stock ROM.

I did a hard reset using the clear storage method so I would wip the |||bored||| GPS settings I had running this way I can test the GPS a bit.

I am off to do the initial programming and I will report back.

You can extract the exe file, here are the contents,

Code:

RUU_Raphael_C_VZW_WWE_1.08.605.4_RS_615021_VZW_1.03.09V_2.01_58002_Ship.exe
Extracted:

11/29/2006  01:36 PM            6,648 EnterBootloader.exe
06/26/2008  01:58 PM          143,300 ErrorBattery.fig
07/30/2008  04:18 PM          141,368 ErrorUSB.fig
05/10/2007  05:17 PM            10,232 GetDeviceData.exe
05/11/2007  04:25 PM            7,672 LaunchPPST.exe
06/04/2008  12:27 PM          238,336 ModelID.fig
03/03/2009  11:52 AM          444,765 PPST2.01.CAB
03/12/2008  08:45 PM            45,056 PPSTPatch.exe
10/19/2007  04:09 PM          172,032 rapitool.exe
08/27/2008  10:57 AM        26,546,545 README.doc
12/14/2007  01:46 PM        1,478,656 ROMUpdateUtility.exe
07/27/2007  10:20 PM            11,256 RUUGetInfo.exe
07/23/2007  07:46 PM        1,445,888 RUUResource.dll
06/09/2009  10:57 AM      150,901,866 RUU_signed.nbh

What's amazing is the size of the NBH image, it's 143 Megs which is a LOT, also there's an additional CAB and a PPST updater ot update the GPS as a separate process.

PPST2.01.CAB may possibly be used to unlock GPS without using bored's GPS unlock.

Also the Image had the Page Pool set to 6Megs which is the same as their original ROM.

Yes PPST2.01.cab is the Official GPS unlock for the Verizon Touch Pro. Sadly enough they didnt allow for aGPS still. It's only supported thru VZnavigator.
