Where are Texts Stored?

Hey Geeks,

Quick Q - Where are texts stored? I have close to 12k texts I want to dump off my phone, but I need to save many of them for work. Where are they stored?

Also, is there an easy way to browse them?

I tried to synch them w/ M$oft MyPhone, but that caps me at 10k.

You can use a program like PIMBackup to back up your texts and I think something like SPB Backup will allow you to browse them on your computer later.

To answer where they are stored... They are stored in the Outlook Mobile database just like emails. They aren't browsable by your directly (as files outside of Outlook Mobile) to my knowledge.

Is having a lot of text messages stored bad? Like how this guy has 12k, will that do anything besides take up memory.
Delay text mesasges?
Slower response?

I was the type of person who loved saving messages

I reached 15k i had to deleted them all it was a great decision

SMS loads a lot slower if you have over 2k or even 1k best thing is to deleted them

Yeah same here, but I was mainly doing it to prove to Sprint that my text messages are being delayed up to 4 hours. But then I noticed it wont show times after a day or two, only the dates. I was at almost 2k, then did a hard reset.

What's the easiest way to delete them? Sent Items is the hardest ones to delete since it doesn't save them in one, all spread out.

I'm thinking of disabling sent messages. I'm not to worried about it being slow, but I will keep deleting them here and there. LoL

Have a look @ Dashwire...www.dashwire.com
BTW, what kind of work do you do where you need to keep 12,000 text messages?

Btw, if you delete the texts, and you go to delete them out of your "deleted items" folder, it will only display 50 items until you press control+a then delete, then it will load the next 50. lol...

You can always delete them all with a simple Menu -> Tools -> Clear "Text Messages" (the name can vary slightly depending on carrier"

Re: Where are Texts Stored?

I highly suggest cleaning out your text messages. After about 20,000 I couldn't use the tab in 3DTF (look 20 to 30 seconds to load) and after 28,000 ish my messaging program itself would freeze on me! I just never took the time to clean them out. Luckily, I had a new Pro (referbished I mean) coming because my keyboard stopped working and am on a new one now. I have about 2000 on it so far but am trying to think of ways to delete all that are like over a day old... I use SyncMate and have been playing with the texting options on that but nothing yet...

I was told a while back that my best bet would be to go under options and unthread my messages, soft reset to put that into effect, select all after a certain time, delete, then thread the messages again. It is long winded but sounds fool proof...

Hope this helps,
Brian
