I have no idea...

GSM? CDMA?

I've got a HTC Touch Pro, I'm from the UK and my carrier is T-Mobile.

I've been looking around the site, saw some ROMS, HardSPL?
Don't really know what they mean.

Erm, apparantly I have to use a certain HardSPL? GSM or CDMA? How do I know which one I have?

Thanks in advance,
Sorry for 'stupid' questions.

To me, that's all gibberish lol.

Could you not just tell me whether my phone is GSM/CDMA and how to unlock it so I can put ROMs on?

Does the device have a slot under the battery cover for a SIM card like your T-Mobile phone does? Be sure to not mistake the microSD slot for a SIM slot.

If it has a SIM card slot, it's a GSM device. If not, it's CDMA and it won't work with T-Mobile, AT&T, or any other GSM carrier.

See, that's the help I needed.
Brilliant.

Yeah, it had a SIM card.
So that means it's GSM?
So how do I unlock it then? I.e. which program? I've seen the name HardSPL being thrown about?

To take this a bit further: Verizon & Sprint = CDMA; T-Mo, AT&T=GSM. Since you're in the UK, you have Vodaphone as well, not sure where they fall in this scheme

Actually, my phone is Vodafone, the carrier is T-Mobile.

Hard to explain really...don't even know how that came about.

Re: I have no idea...

You only need to be concerned about who your carrier is to determine if you have a CDMA or GSM device

Re: I have no idea...

FYI, most of Europe is GSM. there are SOME CDMA carriers but most that i know of are GSM.

Okay, now that we've established it's GSM, how do I unlock it I.e. which program? HardSPL something?
