Sprint UAprof (User Agent Profile)??

Can someone who is familiar with UserAgent strings etc. help me decode this before I jump to conclusions and throw a party(in my pants).

-Do you think the techs are using this file to UAspoof while testing the WiMax rollout?
-I never heard that the TouchPro had the right chipset for this.

Anyone want to speculate for fun-zies, lol. I'm thinking that they just put it in there because WiMax is now part of their network, whether the TouchPro can use it or not.

That be pretty cool if it was. I'm thinking wimax might have something to do with those signal boosters they sell now. It uses VOIP somehow over you're high speed internet if you're out of range. So it's quite possible. I had a mogul and was told I could use it with those as well.

Ya they told me that but I still have to pay "extra" every month for service I should receive at my property. Since there is 1 bar in front of my house they say it's my building materials and computer hardware interfering. So they don't honor ****. Even tho the precious map says awesome coverage.

Good idea, but the AirRave is just a FEMTOcell.
They are actually the midrange/5000ft of radio transmitters (low/30ft = bluetooth, high/miles = cellular towers). They are literally mini cell towers.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Femtocell
"Currently, the most significant deployment is that of Sprint. This started in 3Q/2007 as a limited rollout (Denver and Indianapolis) of a home-based femtocell built by Samsung Electronics called the Sprint Airave that works with any Sprint handset.[13] As of 17 August 2008, Airave has been rolled out on a nationwide basis."

Since these values are blank... I'm starting to think that it's to ensure that WiMax does not interfere with the TouchPro's Phone & Data access.
Code:

<xpcs:ManufacturerWiMAXRadioModule></xpcs:ManufacturerWiMAXRadioModule>
<xpcs:FirmwareVersionWiMAXRadioModule></xpcs:FirmwareVersionWiMAXRadioModule>
<xpcs:ModelWiMAXRadioModule></xpcs:ModelWiMAXRadioModule>

Or... they plan on making a TouchPro with a WiMax chip instead of the rumored TouchHD.

Re: Sprint UAprof (User Agent Profile)??

I think there's a misunderstanding as to what the UAprof is. (i'm not saying i'm an expert)
this file is carrier/server side (doesn't exist on the phone) every http request will have the address to the apropriate UAprof.

what the wimax values in there will mean is that when a site has content specifially for wimax devices, it can detect if your phone's compatable.
so what we need to figure out is how to change what's sent in the headers and have an alternative site with a uaprof that makes the website think we have the capablility, so we can enjoy the same content. (provided our bandwith is high enough (wifi))

Oh! duh! I forgot it was used by a website I'm browsing, not when connecting to the sprint network on startup. I don't know why I got that stuck in my head. Thanks for clearing that up.

Adding custom UAprofs is a really good idea though!
It may be interesting to see if extra downloadable programs show up from a service provider (whenever they eventually become availible).
